The goal has given Harry Maguire confidence. You forget that he is a human being and has lacked confidence over the last few weeks. It's a big pressure taking on that leadership role, especially when Manchester United are in the form they are in. There has been a lot of doom and gloom, but as the game has gone on he has got stronger and stronger.

It was a really, really good header because he was quite a distance out. You have to give credit to Manchester United today. They have been completely professional - 4-0, four different scorers, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going to be going in thinking happy days.

    Phil Jones

His first goal since March 2014!

This is mental. Did anyone call Phil Jones, Harry Maguire, Diogo Dalot and Jesse Lingard scoring for Manchester United today?

    If you did, you're psychic.

The corner is swung in from the left and Jones does brilliantly to get there first and loops his header into the far corner. Brilliant goal!

Man United are turning the heat up now!

Nemanja Matic goes for a run down the left and reaches the backline before cutting it back. He wins a corner.

Would have been worth a VAR check if it had been available. But was Peter Clarke just too strong?

For me that looked a stonewall penalty. I have to give the ref credit as he looked to be in a very good position to make the decision but why would Anthony Martial go down when he was about to get a shot off?

    Tranmere 0-3 Man Utd

Connor Jennings tries to link up with Corey Blackett-Taylor on the left but gets it all wrong. That's where they have enjoyed the most success though, so it's no surprise that's where they have had most of the ball in attacking areas.

  9. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 35 mins

    Tranmere 0-3 Man Utd

Anthony Martial tries to take on Peter Clarke in the box but is just bundled off the ball. There's faint appeals for a penalty but referee Lee Mason waves it away.

    Tranmere 0-3 Man Utd

    Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tranmere have got to keep trying to get these set-plays because they are such a threat on them. Throw-ins, corners - utilise them because that is a vulnerability of Manchester United and a clear strength of Tranmere so play to your strengths.

    Tranmere 0-3 Man Utd

Tranmere move it around midfield nicely and swing a ball in from the left. Nemanja Matic deals with it well though, coolly chesting it down for the keeper.

Luke Shaw then goes up the other end and cuts it back into the centre for Jesse Lingard. He scuffs his shot from a decent unmarked position.

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Prenton Park

There has just been a succession of songs from the Manchester United fans against executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the Glazer family, who own the club.

That cannot be put down to a minority. The song presently being sung is being applauded by a good seventh-eights of the away stand.

    Tranmere 0-3 Man Utd

Diogo Dalot tries to feed it into the feet of Anthony Martial but Peter Clarke reads it and is quick in to intercept.

It's calmed down a bit now but it's lacking a bit of bite. There's a danger (for neutrals), that United will set back and just ride out the win.

Nathan House: There’ll be some Reds never happy until we’re turning teams over 4/5-0 week in, week out. It’s a rebuild, no quick fixes. Real fans understand this. Stick with Ole.

  19. 'Ream is devastated'published at 15:25 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2020

    FT: Man City 4-0 Fulham

    Fulham

Fulham boss Scott Parker, speaking to BBC Sport: "Everything we planned for we had to change after six minutes because of the red card.

"Tim Ream is obviously devastated. He has been immense for us this season. He made a mistake today and in heat of moment you make decisions and sometimes you make the wrong ones.

"You are playing one of the best teams in Europe but I have nothing but pride for my players when they went down to 10 men because I see a team here that has an identity with their commitment and personality.

"I've been in this job for 12 months and I'm trying to build something. OK, we lost the match 4-0 but the bigger picture is there are some big positives to take from it."

On the rest of the season: "We have been there or thereabouts. We are a young side that has come out of Premier League. We have been a bit inconsistent but I firmly believe we are in a good place."

Well done Jesse Lingard to shut the doubters up. Much maligned player.

    Al, Heywood

Who said Solskjaer was drunk at the wheel, eh? Go on lads!

    Nick, Sheffield

Clearly Gomes has more talent and potential than the likes of Lingard and Pereira... but Ole obviously feels his mind is on earning more money elsewhere rather than fulfilling his potential. Until his future is resolved he won't be playing.
