    Shrewsbury 0-1 Liverpool

Shrewsbury get a bit lucky as it bounces off Joel Matip's head rather comically at the back but the League One side are pressing high.

It pays off when it's headed through to Shaun Whalley and AGAIN, he's in one-on-one with the keeper. This time he drags his shot wide of the far post.

That's two BIG chances he's missed. You don't get them often against Liverpool.

This is one Takumi Minamino won't want to see again because, well, it's dreadful.

Divock Origi controls the ball in the box and Minamino takes over, eventually honking it waaaaay wide.

Takumi Minamino can't find a way through on the left so gives it back to Curtis Jones. Liverpool recycle it around the back and it comes to Pedro Chirivella, who flicks it on.

Again, Shrewsbury get it away and break quickly. This time Liverpool get players back in numbers and it's Jones who eventually clears.

Shrewsbury are definitely dangerous on the break!

No Luke. Romero is the best back up keeper in the world. Could walk into most teams. Adrian got released by West Ham.

That ball has a puncture - you don't see that very often.

Harvey Elliott drops into the middle to receive the ball. His pass out wide to Neco Williams is a little too heavy and it pushes the full-back wide.

He still manages to pick out Pedro Chirivella in the middle, but his first-time hit is deflected away. Shaun Whalley gives chase but Adrian is alert and comes off his line to clear.

Steve Charlton: Curtis Jones with a shrewd finish no pun intended.

David: Is this the first time when the sum of the shirt numbers is almost double the collective age of the team?

KoloKK: Curtis Jones is giving Klopp selection problems right now.

You were the only one to notice Steve, thanks!

This is better from Shrewsbury. Josh Laurent has made a few nice touches. A diagonal pass is then whizzed through the middle but Scott Golbourne won't get there.

Harvey Elliott swings a ball into the box but Dejan Lovren is penalised for a push.

A few moments earlier, Neco Williams' cross was blocked in the box. There were a few faint appeals for handball but the defender couldn't have moved his arm to any other position from such a short distance away.

  15. 'Not used to that quality'published at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2020

    FT: Tranmere 0-6 Man Utd

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon to BBC Sport: "You can see the quality they have. It was no surprise to us. Some of the goals they scored, we wouldn’t face that kind of quality [in League One].

"We got everything we needed out of this cup run. We knew we were up against a fantastic team – the players gave everything. We can draw a line under it and get back to the bread and butter [of their relegation battle] and prepare for Wednesday [at home to Sunderland]. The finances hopefully will let us improve group. That can hopefully let us drive ourselves out of our situation.

"We will always have a go. You know if you don’t take a little step to the right or press at the right moment you can be punished. We were undone by a centre-back shooting from 25 yards into the top corner, that's the quality we’re up against. The quality was a level above what you’re used to.

"We will endeavour to do it [stay up]. No distractions now. We have 19 leagues games left to drive forward. If they keep showing that level of fight and endeavour we’ll be fine."

Fantastic save from Adrian, he made a few of them in the last round. The crowd have been lifted by that perfectly-timed run and pass. The keeper puts in a first-class save with his feet. It's hard to criticise Shaun Whalley but he should have been trying to slot that more in the corner.
