Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: "I am so proud of these players. They have beaten City twice at their ground. They have come so far these players. They have given me absolutely everything.
"We have come a long way. Even though we did not create too many clear cut chances we pressed them back. It pleased me.
"Of course it is hard to come here and score a goal with 11 never mind 10. It was never a sending off. Absolutely for me a joke. How many times did they foul us?"

To come here and get a result is a good win for United,
They came here and looked very solid and organised. They didn't have a lot going forward and it look a great strike by Nemanja Matic for them to find a goal.

The story of City's season in one game there, long spells of possession, pockets of brilliance and chances to put the game away but with the ever-present nagging feeling they could concede at any moment. Will likely finish the season with a trophy but it's unlikely to be European...

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: "We played a side with incredible physicality. The goal was from a set piece. The first time they shot on target.
" In both games we were better. I am so satisfied with the players, and the way they play with the problems in the back four.
"Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho are not completely fit. Benjamin Mendy neither. We’ll see in the next days. I am pretty sure they will be OK for West Ham, I don’t know for Spurs. We don’t want to take risks."
Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan: "We should have scored early in the first half. We should have scored at least one or two goals today but it wasn't to be.
"The manager said before the game this is now an experience, we have to survive and overcome. I think we can improve. It is a learning process."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's tackling and timing is outstanding.
But to put a negative spin on it, he's therefore putting himself in the wrong position, so he has to make the tackle.
He makes a lot of tackles because people are just about to get away from him.
If he can get his positioning right - he can be even better.

Harrison Short: Obviously disappointed with the result, but encouraged by the performance. We weren't exactly an attacking threat, but we held our own against the second-best team in the country, and were defensively solid for most of the game. Positives to take from this for sure.
Liz Tray: Don't go overboard Reds. You had one chance. De Gea's lack of ambition has served you well. We missed about seven chances, and that can't continue if we're going to win anything. I've aged about 10 years.
Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne, speaking to Sky Sports:"I can't really comprehend how we lost this game. For me Manchester United didn't have one chance today. In the end, good we go through.
"I think we got sloppy. The goal we did not clear the lines well and out of nothing they scored. You can tell me if they had a chance again. We fought when we had to and will learn from the mistakes.
"If we win the final no-one will talk about this game. The final is a nice day and we will fight to win the cup. If we do it will be nice."

In terms of executing the final ball and finding the right finish, it was the worst I've seen City play in a long, long time.

Eph3meral: First game everyone went on about the gulf in class between the two teams but ultimately United lost to an own goal in the end. That was despite not having much of an attack and many injuries. United are on the right path to get ahead of City who are in decline.

Other than the goal, United didn't really test Claudio Bravo.
Man City should have made it a lot easier than it was in the end. Raheem Sterling was guilty of a missed opportunity as was David Silva - so they had the chances to make it a smoother route to Wembley.
They're the third team to make it to the final of the EFL Cup final three seasons in a row.

That is quite amazing.
Yet another away win in a Manchester derby. That is three in a row this season and six in the last seven meetings.
It is the first time Manchester United have won twice at Manchester City in a single season since 1956-57.

I believe United could have been better in the final third.
City have so much quality over the pitch they just about nicked it over the two legs.
