  1. More speed for the visitorspublished at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

Daniel James' introduction will give Manchester United even more speed on the counter-attack, even though the Welshman's form has dipped markedly since the opening weeks of the season.

Interestingly, Sergio Romero did a warm-up at half-time, so presumably there was a doubt over David de Gea, even if the United number one has started the second period.

Ole's probably seen Otamendi has been left on his own a lot so he'll look to use James to hurt them.

His pace might even make them keep an extra defender back.

Nathan Wake: McTominay and Pogba due back soon, Fernandes medical tomorrow. Matic and Fred playing like they’ve finally got some competition, can someone tell Lingard?

  9. 'Matic's been excellent'published at 20:42 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a very good strike by Matic - a very good strike.

He's calm on the ball as well, and he makes sure most of his passes find a team-mate.

He's been excellent since he came back into the side because of Scott McTominay's injury.

  10. One shot, one goalpublished at 20:38 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

    Chris Bevan
    BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium

One shot, one goal - that's been enough to put United right back in this tie, even if they have done next to nothing in open play.

City were 3-0 up at the break at Old Trafford in the first leg and running riot, much to the delight of their fans. This time it is the United supporters who are smiling, at the moment anyhow.

  11. 'Smash and grab'published at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

    Ian Dennis
Radio 5 live senior football reporter

United had a glimmer of hope at kick-off time... they've got a lot more than that now.

It was an odd half - it feels a bit like a smash and grab by United.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:34 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

There goes the whistle for half time. One shot, one goal for Manchester United and they are in this now.

  13. Postpublished at 20:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

A back pass is short and Sergio Aguero charges towards the loose ball but David de Gea is quickly off his line and just beats the striker to it.

United have got a chance here; not through being brilliant but through being organised.

Shouts for handball as Raheem Sterling's cross hits Victor Lindelof on the shoulder. Referee Kevin Friend is right by the incident and not interested.

Two minutes will be added on at the end of the half.

  17. 'About a yard offside'published at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2020

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

    Dion Dublin
Former Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Yeah, Raheem Sterling was about a yard offside - unfortunately for him.

But either way it's incredible movement - even though Pep Guardiola will say he should have stayed onside.

  18. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 43 mins

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

Raheem Sterling stabs in a cross and the home fans celebrate momentarily but the linesman's flag is up for offside. Right decision, there were two City players offside when the ball came in.

Richard: Matic scores! Ed is on the phone cancelling the Bruno Fernandes deal as we speak.

Ben Dunbar: Good finish by Matic, he's one of those players who scores a high % of belters for the low number of goals he gets.

  20. Postpublished at 41 mins

Man City 0-1 Man Utd (3-2 agg)

Bernardo Silva's low ball drifts just wide of the far post as Manchester City come forward with half time looming.

Pep Guardiola is slumped back in his seat, arms folded. This game has suddenly become a bit uncomfortable for the City boss.
