  1. League One previewpublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

League leaders Rotherham welcome Bristol Rovers as they look to bolster top spot, while second-placed and out-of-form Wycombe face a Rochdale side that have won their past two matches.

Depending on that result, third-placed Ipswich could break into the top two once more if they beat lowly Tranmere as Coventry travel to Doncaster and Oxford face Gillingham.

Meanwhile, A bumper Sunderland away following will be travelling to MK Dons as they look to creep into the play-off places.

Finally, at the bottom of the table, Bolton welcome Portsmouth as Kenny Jackett's side also aim to make their way into the top six.

You could be forgiven for thinking of Swansea City as a tribute act to England Under-17s' 2017 World Cup winners.

Swans head coach Steve Cooper was in charge of the English youngsters when they beat Spain 5-2 in the final in India, helping launch the careers of players such as Phil Foden and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Also in that squad were Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster and Chelsea's midfielder and defender Conor Gallagher and Marc Guehi.

All three have joined Swansea on loan during the January transfer window, citing the opportunity to work with Cooper again as one of the reasons to make the move to the Liberty Stadium.

Brewster made his debut during last weekend's south Wales derby draw at Cardiff, while Gallagher and Guehi could be in line for their first appearances against Wigan today.

  3. Blackburn search for valuable away winpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

Sheff Wed v Blackburn (15:00 GMT)

Blackburn fans might fondly look back on the days when they last pulled off a league double against Sheffield Wednesday.

The most recent time that happened was in their Premier League-winning 1994-95 season.

How times change, however, as Rovers travel to Hillsborough today having lost seven of their past 10 away games, including the last three in a row.

  4. A late Barnsley changepublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

Bristol City v Barnsley (15:00 GMT)

Barnsley are forced into a late change ahead of their match against Bristol City.

Clarke Oduor has pulled up with an injury in the warm-up and is replaced by Ben Williams.

  5. Preston looking to arrest poor formpublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Preston v Charlton (15:00 GMT)

    Alex NeilImage source, Rex Features

Having looked like they were on the verge of storming into the Championship automatic promotion places not so long ago, Preston's form has dropped off of late.

Alex Neil's side have won just two out of their past 12 games in all competitions and have lost their past three matches at home.

Fortunately for Preston, they welcome a Charlton side to Deepdale who have won just one of their past 19 away league matches against the Lilywhites.

  6. Millwall's assault on the play-off placespublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Reading v Millwall (15:00 GMT)

    Gary RowettImage source, Rex Features

Gary Rowett has certainly improved Millwall's fortunes since his arrival at The Den and they travel to Reading today with hopes of breaking into the play-offs.

Since Rowett's first league game in charge of the Lions, only leaders West Bromwich Albion (one) have lost fewer Championship matches than Millwall's two.

However, they face a Reading side who are unbeaten in seven. Can they come away with three points?

  7. Terriers plan to halt Bees' risepublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Huddersfield v Brenford (15:00 GMT)

Here's a stat for you - Only Southend with 49 defeats have lost more games in all competitions than poor old Huddersfield Town (45) in England's top four tiers since the start of last season.

The Terriers face a Brentford side today who are on the cusp of breaking into the Championship's top two places, but worry not Huddersfield fans, there's cause to be optimistic.

Today's hosts have beaten Brentford in their past three league matches, all by a one-goal margin.

  8. A week to forget for Derbypublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Derby v Hull (15:00 GMT)

    Pride ParkImage source, Rex Features

It has been a week to forget for Derby County, whose recent improvement in form on the pitch has contrasted with their fortunes off it.

The Rams were charged by the English Football League earlier this week with a breach of spending rules in relation to losses made in the three years up to June of 2018 and face a possible points deduction.

The club later claimed the charge was 'unlawful'.

Philip Cocu's side welcome Hull as they aim to pull further away from the relegation places with the threat of a possible deduction of points looming.

  9. Bristol City's enviable recordpublished at 14:37 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

Bristol City v Barnsley (15:00 GMT)

Bristol City take on struggling Barnsley today at Ashton Gate with an enviable record against the Tykes.

Lee Johnson's side are unbeaten in their past eight league games against Barnsley since a 1-0 defeat against them in September 2012.

Barnsley venture south with a pretty dismal record against today's opponents away from home. They are winless in their past 15 away matches against Bristol City.

  10. Cardiff's transitional periodpublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Birmingham v Cardiff (15:00 GMT)

    Neil HarrisImage source, Getty Images

Cardiff boss Neil Harris has had a relatively steady start to his time as Bluebirds boss with his side four points off the play-off places in a tight Championship table.

However, with the club in a state of flux behind the scenes as they adapt to life outside the Premier League, he admits things don't run as smoothly as is ideal.

"It is a bit different for us with me not being here that long, with a new recruitment department being set up, it does not make it as smooth or as easy to do business. We are in that period at the moment," he said ahead of their match against Birmingham.

"But we have identified players and I have identified players who can add quality to the group and support the dynamics we have already. If we can get them brilliant."

On 10 December, Leeds were top and 11 points clear of third place.

Fast-forward five weeks and they could be just three points ahead of the chasing pack, if Brentford win this afternoon.

Getting up from this division is never plain-sailing.

Leeds miss the chance to go top of the Championship and lose at QPR.

Nakhi Wells' first-half goal - after controlling the ball with his hand - is enough for the hosts to move to within four points of the play-off places.

Patrick Bamford saw a penalty saved by Liam Kelly and Kalvin Phillips was sent off late on, with Leeds now with just one win from their past seven games.

  16. CLOSE!published at 90+4 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Luke Ayling delivers another pearler of a cross and Ezgjan Alioski gets up to head just wide.

It wouldn't have counted as the Macedonian was flagged offside.

    Time almost up for Leeds.

  17. Postpublished at 90+3 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

QPR - now with the additional man - seem to be seeing this out quite comfortably.

They have a corner and are understandably in no rush and not committing too man men into the Leeds box.

  18. Postpublished at 90+2 mins

    QPR 1-0 Leeds

Eberechi Eze skews one over for QPR from long-range after Pablo Hernandez gives the ball away.

It's not been Hernandez's day on his return to the Leeds side.

    Three minutes remain.

  19. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90+1 mins

Five minutes added on as 10-man Leeds chase an equaliser.

QPR's Geoff Cameron and visiting defender Luke Ayling were booked in the aftermath of that Kalvin Phillips sending off.

Kalvin Phillips sent-offImage source, PA Media

A straight red card for Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips - their day goes from bad to worse.

It's a late, high tackle on Geoff Cameron and Phillips - who's been tipped for an England call-up by some - can have absolutely no complaints.

An absolutely awful challenge. Thankfully Cameron is OK.
