I expected Kenny Miller to do better there as he was right through. But that shows you when you're not in the game there's always a chance, and Kenny Miller has that ability to pop up.

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

The hosts catch Celtic out on the counter and Kenny Miller tries an audacious lob over Fraser Forster from distance that the keeper deals with comfortably.

Celtic have kept seven clean sheets in their last eight Scottish Cup ties, so Ian McCall's men have their work cut out trying to rescue this tie. Thistle are defending resolutely but can barely make it out of their own half.

They've just got to take a little bit more care the Thistle players. They've got those two targets up front in Zak Rudden and Kenny Miller, and if they could pick their pass those two could give the Celtic defenders some trouble.

The hosts are making life difficult for themselves with careless possession. A stray Steven Saunders pass prompts another Celtic attack and leads to a free-kick in a dangerous area but Thistle survive for now.

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

A long night ahead for the hosts. Celtic are flooding forward and it takes a superb block from James Penrice to send Odsonne Edouard's strike behind for a corner.

Christopher Jullien then rises to meet the resultant set-piece but his header flies over.

He'll be so delighted. He takes it first time, low down into the centre of the goal. A great boost for him.

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Celtic

Tom Rogic has been shunted down the Parkhead pecking order by Ryan Christie's rise to prominence, but the Aussie looks keen to impress tonight and fizzes a 20-yard strike just wide.

It's a big moment for Jozo Simunovic to get back into the team so quickly. Whether he's match fit or not is a question as he hasn't played for such a long time.

  13. Postpublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Celtic

Celtic centre-back Nir Bitton is an early casualty after sprinting back to make a timely block on Thistle debutant Zak Rudden in the box.

The Israeli looks to have pulled a muscle and is replaced by Jozo Simunovic, making just his eighth appearance of an injury-hit season.

  14. Postpublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-0 Celtic

Unsurprisingly it's all Celtic early doors. Olivier Ntcham makes space for a shot but his ballooned effort ends up nearer the windows of Maryhill's high-rise flats than the Thistle goal.

Odsonne Edouard with an early header on target from a Tom Rogic cross but it's an easy take for Thistle keeper Scott Fox.

Holders Celtic begin their Scottish Cup defence having won the last 10 domestic trophies.

The dominant Parkhead side have won 31 consecutive cup ties on the way to an unprecedented treble treble.

Can they be halted by Championship side Thistle, who have just one win in their last four matches?

  18. 'We wanted youthful energy in the side' - Stendelpublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    FT: Hearts 5-0 Airdrieonians

Hearts manager Daniel Stendel was proud to pick up his first win and put the result down to the youthful exuberance that he has injected into the side.

"It was my first win and it was at Tynecastle," he said.

"We started with some new, young players in the starting XI because we want to play with more energy. Especially in the first half with Lewis Moore and in the second half with Euan Henderson.

"It was also good that Conor Washington got game time. It was a good win and it was important for our confidence.

"This is our way for the future. We have a lot of potentially good players in our academy. But we also need experienced players.

  20. 'Griffiths itching to play' - Lennonpublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle v Celtic (17:30)

Leigh Griffiths is back in Celtic's starting line-up for the first time since 12 December and manager Neil Lennon says the striker deserves his chance.

Lennon tells BBC Scotland: "Leigh has trained well. His opportunities have obviously been limited this season. He had a good trip in Dubai and is itching to play."

New Polish signing Patryk Klimala is on the bench and the striker could make his debut.

"He's been in for a week and it's good to have back-up for the strikers," Lennon added.

"He's a good player and if the game goes well we might see him."
