Partick have hung on well in this one and there will be at least another chance for them. When you face Celtic though you just have to make sure you take it. Thistle are getting themselves in a good position.

  2. Postpublished at 18:59 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Thistle are enjoying a decent spell now and Reece Cole has a go with a long-range strike that sails too high.

  3. Postpublished at 18:56 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Another Thistle switch as Dario Zanatta comes on for debut striker Zak Rudden.

Only a goal in it and 20 minutes to go - the Jags would have probably taken this scenario pre-match.

  4. 'Thistle are still in this'published at 18:52 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

McGregor looked as though he was going to smash it into the top corner but tried to place it. I think Scott Fox was in a decent position but it's just wide. Thistle are still here, they're still in this.

  5. Postpublished at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

The hosts are hanging on here as Celtic keep the chances coming. This time it's Callum McGregor curling one wide from just outside the box.

  6. 'Partick have to work the ball better'published at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

    Quote Message

I just wonder where Thistle will get an opportunity from open play. They'll be relying on Celtic to make a mistake which will give them something. They've got to work the ball a little better when they have it. They've had opportunities to do that but they've just given it away or made mistakes.

  7. Postpublished at 18:49 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Odsonne Edouard completely fluffs his finish after lovely work from Tom Rogic and Jermie Frimpong down the right laid the ball on a plate for the Celtic striker 10 yards out.

  8. Postpublished at 18:47 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

Former Hamilton stalwart Darian MacKinnon's race is run on his Thistle debut. The 34-year-old midfielder is replaced by Craig Slater for the final half hour.

Tom Rogic can't get enough curl on his shot towards the far post after nimble footwork from the Celtic playmaker gave him a sight of goal.

  15. Griffiths sends out a reminderpublished at 18:29 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    HT: Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

Leigh Griffiths, this is a reminder. He's put it away nicely. There's life in the striker yet.

It should have been a penalty. It was just a shove. Jeremie Frimpong went down easily but if if he stays on his feet he doesn't get the penalty. This time he went down and didn't get it.

At Thistle's chance, Jeremie Frimpong was all over the place, he doesn't know where Kenny Miller is. Celtic got away with one there.

Kenny Miller was really unlucky as the ball came across with real pace. It's a mistake from Celtic but they get off the hook.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Leigh Griffith's first goal since August has Scottish Cup holders Celtic ahead in a first half they dominated.

They also had a strong penalty shout turned down when Jermie Frimpong was pushed by James Penrice.

But Thistle could have snatched a leveller on the stroke of half-time when Kenny Miller rattled the woodwork.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 18:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

    Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Thistle striker Kenny Miller so close to an equaliser against his old club. The striker stretches to meet Zak Rudden's centre six yards out and the ball cannons back off the post.

It looked like a penalty. He put his arm on his back. He went down fairly easily, but it looked like a penalty.

  20. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 18:15 Greenwich Mean Time 18 January 2020

Celtic's Jermie Frimpong is sent sprawling by a push in the back from James Penrice as he hurtles past the defender but referee Alan Muir is not interested.
