FT: Chelsea 0-3 Bayern Munich

As a player you just have to get nights like tonight out of your mind as quick as possible, regroup and go again.

There was a negativity around Bayern at the start of the season but they are gaining confidence week by week. They are just going to go from strength to strength. They don't seem to have a weakness. I know we mentioned their defence before the game but even that seems to be getting strong.

I think Bayern Munich can do what they did tonight, on their day, to absolutely anyone. I think they are that good.

This was the benchmark for Chelsea this season and Frank has got there. They've got young players and a new manager, all the usual reasons and excuses are there. Chelsea aren't quite there yet, in fact they are quite a distance away from it.

Robert Lewandowski is phenomenal. Just the way he led the line, he holds the ball up well, he links up well. He's got fantastic awareness. I can't emphasis enough how in the big moments it's about being a team player and being unselfish. He laid it on a plate for Gnabry.

Bayern manager Hans-Dieter Flick is only the seventh manager to win his first four Champions League matches, and the first since Diego Simeone in November 2013.

It was stupid from Marcus Alonso. I'd give him a red card for his stupidity. He's let his manager down.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard told BT Sport: "The performance was poor and sometimes you have to be brutally honest. They outclassed us in every department and it's quite sobering. The level of team they are is why they challenge in the Bundesliga and Europe year in year out. I'm disappointed we couldn't do more against them. We have to take it on the chin and work towards getting back to the levels we want to be at.
"If you look at the choice of passes they make, our choices have to improve. If our players have a bit about them, which i think they do, they will look at who they were playing against and the level they need to work to. We will always play with pride but I'm more concerned about the bigger picture. How quickly can we recover for the Premier League and how quickly can we get to the level?"
On the suspended players: "Jorginho is done by talking to the ref which is unnecessary when you're on a yellow card. Marcos Alonso I haven't seen yet and I will look at it, but they are out of the second leg so it's an opportunity for someone else to come in."
Chelsea 0-3 Bayern Munich
This is Chelsea's heaviest ever defeat in a European home game.

It was an absolute mauling for Chelsea. We can sit here and pick the bones out of Chelsea but Bayern were so good. Manuel Neuer wasn't worked in the second half and the 3-0 scoreline flatters Chelsea.
Chelsea 0-3 Bayern Munich
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has just called that a "reality check". He's not wrong. Full quotes soon.

Bayern have got what it takes to go all the way. But if I put them up against Liverpool I'd still fancy Liverpool. Chelsea were murdered in that game, by a team that is just miles better than them.
The midfield of Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic were just out-classed in the second half.
Munich were just efficient and clinical. They were stunning.
Probably should have got that trial back on...

It was a complete centre-forward performance from Robert Lewandowski. He hadn’t scored in Europe for a while but it was so unselfish to square it for Serge Gnabry. He is a real team player, he’s ruthless but a real team man.
Chelsea 0-3 Bayern Munich
For all the talk of young Chelsea, only three of their starting line-up were aged 23 or under. There was plenty of experience in that team.

Bayern Munich's double goalscorer Serge Gnabry on BT Sport: "Three goals should give us a lot of confidence. We need to be prepared for the second leg and we can't take it serious enough.
"We saw last season with Liverpool beating Barcelona, we know we have to be careful and focus."
Six goals in London this season - the former Arsenal player is asked if he enjoys coming back: "I certainly do. I have a lot of friends here. A lot of them were in the stands tonight and I think they were giving me good power."
