John Warburton: In response to Kevin Nolan’s comments on Ighalo going to United, it makes perfect sense, it’s a loan to get them through until Rashford is fit again, Signing Cavani who is older on a permanent transfer is ridiculous, his wages alone would be astronomical. Sanchez???

  5. 'If you want to leave China you should consider making plans'published at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Ian Dennis
Radio 5 live senior football reporter

On travel advice for anyone (Odion Ighalo) wanting to leave China: "Shanghai is in an all-but essential travel area.

"The Chinese government continue to impose restrictions on movement within China in response to the corona virus outbreak. Some airlines, including British Airways, have suspended flights to and from mainland China.

"Other commercial airlines are still operating but it may become harder over the coming weeks for those who wish to leave China to do so.

"If you feel that you may want to leave China soon you should consider making plans to do so before any further restrictions may be imposed."

  6. Bowen arrives in Londonpublished at 21:02 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Hull striker Jarrod Bowen has arrived in London in order to complete his move to West Ham.

The Hammers agreed a £25m fee with the Tigers earlier today but the transfer has been held up as negotiations continued over the player’s personal terms.

However, the fact that Bowen is now in the capital is being viewed as significant.

Bowen had a medical in Leeds earlier today, so it would seem to be just a matter of time before the deal is completed.

  9. 'I hope the six months Ravel has had at Sheff Utd have been good for him'published at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I spoke with Ravel Morrison earlier in the season and he seemed happy with where his game was at, his communication with the football club, their training methods. It was just a matter of he was waiting for his opportunity.

Chris Wilder is the type of manager who would just tell you exactly how it is, he would tell you if he was not happy with the way he conducted himself around the club if that was the case.

It's nice to hear that it just wasn't a good fit and Ravel was told he can go to another club where he can show his talents.

I would hope that Chris Wilder has been able to put the right kind of qualities into him and the six months Ravel has had there have been good for him.

  11. King 'a serious talent'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The relationship between Joshua King, the club [Bournemouth] and the manager [Eddie Howe] will be tested.

My hope is that King goes out there, scores goals and performs to a point that Manchester United cannot ignore him and he can get that dream move back because he is a serious talent.

Hopefully that is where his head will be at.

  13. 'Why are Man Utd going for Ighalo? I don't understand it'published at 20:44 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Why haven't they gone and got someone like Edinson Cavani?

He didn't want to stay [at PSG] until the end of the summer. He wanted to get out of PSG. He is a Manchester United player. He is going to play every game, if you like.

Why are they going to Odion Ighalo? I don't understand it.

  16. Retsos loan deal removes any riskpublished at 20:35 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Alistair Magowan
    BBC Sport

Sheffield United have now made five signings in the transfer window, including a club record £22m fee for Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge.

The latest loan deal, Greek international defender Panos Retsos, comes highly-rated, but only played one game last season because of injury.

Leverkusen's sports director and former German striker Rudi Voller said: "Panos has lost a whole year because of injury. It’s just really important for him to play and Sheffield United can offer him one of the highest levels to come back into his top form."

Blades boss Chris Wilder says the loan is "a perfect opportunity for Panos to have a look at us and us to have a good look at him."

  18. 'We tried to convince Andy, Liverpool move was right thing to do'published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

I was with Andy Carroll at the time (of his £35 million move from Newcastle to Liverpool) and he wasn't going anywhere - we were trying to convince him that it was the right thing to do.

Tottenham had a good go as well and in the end Liverpool said this was their final offer (upped from £30m to £35m).

I think Tottenham were going to match it but Andy had decided on Liverpool.

@AgrathoSam17: How much paperwork does a player actually have to fill out before a move is finalised, and is it a different kind of paperwork with loans?published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Micah Richards
    Former Aston Villa defender

Not much, it is usually a few signatures. It is both clubs who have lots of paperwork, because they have to deal with bonuses and that. It can take more than a day so I am not sure why it gets left until deadline day? You talk about all the deals that get done well you can talk about all those that don't get done because the paperwork isn't done in time. Too much for me. I just do the signing bit.
