It is certainly stressful because if you want to get a move and you're ringing your agent and friends and everyone is asking if you are staying or going. It can be stressful but at the same time it can be fun. I was a long time at Man City and never thought I would leave.

  2. Striker on the way to Old Trafford?published at 20:20 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Manchester United are growing increasingly confident of signing a striker on loan before the 11pm transfer deadline.

United have been heavily linked with Bournemouth’s Joshua King and former Watford front-man Odion Ighalo today.

It was understood earlier this evening that United had accepted the chances of landing King were slim.

However, they were still talking to alternative options and, whilst there is no deal done, or any suggestion an announcement is imminent, there is a growing feeling United will reach a successful conclusion.

@jessbarcroftx: Are you surprised City have let Angelino on loan today with all of the injuries that City seem to be stacking up, especially defensively?published at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Micah Richards
    Former Aston Villa defender

No, I am not surprised because he is not getting as much game time as he would like to. Zinchenko is back fit now and they have players who can cover in that position. As a young player you want to go and play. He went on loan and did well and they brought him back but it didn't work out. I'm glad he has gone to get some more minutes under his belt.

@blaugranagram: Favourite manager you've played under, Micah?published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Micah Richards

My favourite manager is Roberto Mancini because tactically I thought he was amazing. I had my best ever season in the Premier League under him. Close second is Stuart Pearce because he gave me my debut and he was a legend as well. I loved the way he trained. It was an honour to play under both of them.

@mahatma48701378: What's it like on transfer deadline day?published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Micah Richards
    Former Aston Villa defender

It is tough on deadline day because when you are at a top team and you know they are looking at players in your position it is nerve-wracking, even for the players who don't leave. You don't want another player taking your spot. But it is exciting if you are looking for a new challenge and a move.

  9. 'We don't need Eriksen, watch this'published at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2020

    Kevin Nolan
Former West Ham captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Christian Eriksen has not been on top form for a long time and Tottenham needed to get him out.

In the dressing room, when lads who are top players are not performing you start to lose a bit of faith in them.

Now he has gone there might be a little air of freshness, and all the other players will say 'right, let's move on'.

So it's not about replacing Eriksen, it's about all those lads saying 'we don't need Eriksen, watch this'.

Nathan A Clark - The Extra Inch Podcast

With it seeming like any potential deals for bringing in strikers are dead in the water it's interesting that Troy Parrott is one of the few academy stars not being loaned out in these closing hours.

He turns only 18 in a few days, and apparently there are some complicated details with keeping him home grown until then but I really hope that part of the consideration is that he might pick up some minutes.

Otherwise we are reliant on Lucas Moura, Son Hueng-Min and Dele awkwardly filling in up top for the rest of the season.

    Wolves Football Fancast:

Rochdale’s Luke Matheson joins for £1 million and is immediately loaned back to Rochdale for the remainder of the season.

This is a promising future signings for Wolves who has already raised some eyebrows after his performance at Old Trafford earlier in the season.

It seems that elusive striker search might be over with no expected incoming today for the first team.

Matheson is 17 years old and only passed his driving test just over 24 hours ago. If you didn’t feel middle aged before, you will now.

The 30-year-old Dane, who played a key role in The Terriers retaining Premier League status under then manager David Wagner following promotion from the Championship, only joined Everton on a free transfer in the summer after their relegation last season.
