Oxford's first corner as Marcus Browne's cross is headed behind by Fabian Schar.

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

It looks like Joelinton will be OK after getting some assistance from the medical staff. He was holding his ribs or thereabouts.

    Birmingham 0-0 Coventry

At the other end, Maxime Biamou is unable to get his effort on target either, hammering a drive into the stand.

  4. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Birmingham 0-0 Coventry

Free-kick for Birmingham down the right edge, sub Caolan Boyd-Munce steps up to take it but curls inswinger way over.

Infuriating for the defenders that came up and have to trot all the way back.

  5. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

I was just about to say Newcastle look so composed on the ball as Fabian Schar strolls out of defence but then he sprays a pass straight out of play.

Joelinton is down injured and needs treatment (but I don't think Schar knew that).

Craig White: We're going to Wembley! Steve Bruce man, what a manager.

Williams Rhys: Is it me or is the pitch at the Kassam Stadium massive? It looks so wide.

  7. CLOSE!published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Liverpool 0-0 Shrewsbury

First effort on target but no problems for Shrews goalkeeper Max O'Leary, claiming Liverpool skipper Curtis Jones' free-kick with ease.

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

Sean Longstaff trusted himself with that goal and had that little bit of class you need to be a top player.

  9. CLOSE!published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Birmingham 0-0 Coventry

Excellent play by Birmingham striker Jefferson Montero, the Ecuadorian shifting the ball onto his left boot and drilling a low shot which is kept out by the legs of Coventry goalkeeper Marko Marosi.

  10. Newcastle get their rewardpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Kassam Stadium

Newcastle United have made a positive start and the goal is their reward. Oxford United, who like to play in a passing, progressive style, just haven't got going yet.

The visiting fans are currently in very vociferous - and very happy - mood.

  11. Postpublished at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

Oxford looked shellshocked after the goal but they seem to have recovered a bit now. A free-kick into the box just catches veteran forward Jamie Mackie out and he can't get it under control.

  13. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC One

It's a touch of class by Sean Longstaff. He opens his body up and waits for the opportunity and nails it. The whip he gets on it, he draws the defenders and nobody is really pressing him like they should and he gets fantastic contact on it.

  14. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

Oxford's first shot of the game as Marcus Browne - who scored either once or twice against Blackpool on Saturday depending on whether you count a deflected strike - cuts in but his effort is screwed well wide.

  15. Postpublished at 20:24 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Cardiff 1-0 Reading

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Reading's Yakou Meite has almost scored a goal which would probably have been named goal of the round - if not goal of the tournament - had it gone in.

Think Olivier Giroud for Arsenal against Crystal Palace. Remember that 'scorpion flick'?

Well, Meite has just attempted something similar but had his innovative effort saved by Neil Etheridge.

That would have been Meite's third goal against Cardiff in 10 days.

  16. WATCH: Cardiff take the leadpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Cardiff 1-0 Reading

  17. Postpublished at 20:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Oxford 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle almost double their lead immediately. They counter at pace and Nabil Bentaleb crosses for Joelinton, six yards out, but his shot is over the bar. The ball was bouncing but a £40m striker should be able to finish that.

  18. ouch!

Postpublished at 20:22 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2020

    Birmingham 0-0 Coventry

A nasty collision between Jefferson Montero and Josh Pask and both need treatment from the physio.

The Coventry defender is booked for the challenge but both are OK to continue.
