Much-changed Hamilton are level thanks to a Lewis Smith strike seven minutes before the end of an entertaining first half.
Rangers have dominated possession and took the lead when Scott Arfield converted the rebound after his penalty was saved.
Accies have defended stoutly, though, and had a decent penalty claim when the ball appeared to hit Connor Goldson's arm.
