  3. 'We created more than Hearts' - McCrackenpublished at 21:30 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2020

    FT: Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Falkirk co-manager David McCracken tells BBC Scotland: “It was tough to take.

"The pleasing factor for us though was the way we reacted to going behind. It's a fine line that we didn't take the opportunities - I think we actually created more than Hearts.

"I thought we were brilliant defensively, our shape was really good at times - it's frustrating because ultimately we're out of the cup, but we can take these positives into the league.

"Fair play to Hearts - they're through but we're delighted with how we performed."

    FT: Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Falkirk's co-managers probably saw last week's 1-1 draw with Stranraer, League One's bottom club as two points dropped.

Earlier today, however, Raith Rovers, the team leading the league, were held to the same scoreline.

They're now just four points behind with a game in hand.

    FT: Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Hearts manager Daniel Stendel tells BBC Scotland: “Our game was like the weather, not really great, but it was just important we got into the next round, it’s very positive for us.

“Falkirk invested a lot of things in the second-half but we let them come back into the game. We controlled the game but made some easy mistakes.

“Today we had a little bit of luck. When I saw the last game [against Kilmarnock] it was exactly the opposite. We’re happy.”

The cup tie is all about getting into the next round and they managed that. Hearts rode their luck though - Falkirk were the better side in my opinion, especially in the second-half. A few weeks ago however, they may have drawn or even lost this kind of game - they've got a stroke of luck. They were lucky tonight, I don't think they were good

  9. FULL-TIME Falkirk 0-1 Heartspublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2020

Well, that turned out to be a really good game despite the awful conditions.

A valiant effort by Falkirk and they'll be disappointed to be going out because they were right in this tie.

Sean Clare's penalty after 50 minutes is the goal which puts Hearts into the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, but the scoreline won't show Falkirk hitting the woodwork three times in the following eight minutes.

Hearts slightly lucky to go through, but a win is a win and it's a big one for Daniel Stendel.

  13. CLOSE!published at 84 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Euan Henderson has to score. He has to send Hearts into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

    But he doesn't.

The youngster found himself on the end of a Liam Boyce cross-shot only a few yards out, but his effort flies over.

    How costly might that be?

  14. Into the last ten minutespublished at 82 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Can Falkirk find an equaliser? They probably deserve one on the balance of play.

Hearts have just made their final change. Conor Washington is off, Anthony MacDonald is on.

Falkirk are looking for the equaliser they probably deserve - they've hit the post three times in the second-half and have been the better side in my opinion. They just need that little break

  16. No bait for Sammonpublished at 76 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Conor Sammon is off, he's not really had a sniff in front of goal against his former club. Aidan Connolly joins him on the bench.

Charlie Telfer and David McMillan are on in their place.

  17. Hearts' second changepublished at 73 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Sean Clare is off, he's been booked but he had a good game and as it stands, his goal from the spot is sending Hearts through to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Euan Henderson is on in his place

  18. Hearts still beatingpublished at 70 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Hearts look to have weathered the storm a bit, and I'm not talking about Ciara.

Falkirk really needed to score in those six minutes where they hit the woodwork three times. The Premiership side look to be back in control....

Wow - what a strike that was off the bar. Hearts need to change the flow of the game - it's all Falkirk right now

  20. History repeating itself?published at 61 mins

    Falkirk 0-1 Hearts

Jamie Walker is on for Steven Naismith. The last time the two sides met, he scored as Hearts won 3-0 away from home in 2015. I reckon Daniel Stendel would take that right now...

Hearts probably not wanting to risk Captain Naismith any longer in these conditions.
