  1. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 2-1 Nottingham Forestpublished at 44 mins

    Lewis Wing

What a rapid turnaround! It's a terrific counter attack and Boro suddenly have the lead.

It starts with keeper Aynsley Pears, who throws the ball out quickly to Hayden Coulson on the right. Coulson sprints away and squares the ball to Lewis Wing in space, in the area, and Wing's first-time shot eventually goes over the line.

Forest keeper Brice Samba got a hand to it, taking the pace out of the strike, but it just about rolls over and referee Darren England signals that it's gone over and it's a goal.

That's only Rudy Gestede's second league goal of the season. It's much-needed, from a Boro point of view.

    Rudy Gestede

And they are back on terms! From a deep free-kick, Harold Moukoudi jumps up highest and heads the ball back across the box towards Rudy Gestede, who is there at the far post to nod the ball down on to the line and it bounces in.

How big a moment could that be? Boro fans believe!

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Nottingham Forest

The game has become a bit scrappy in the past five minutes, as Boro battle, looking to get back on terms before half-time.

The home side are staying in the Championship relegation zone as it stands.

  5. CHANCE!published at 36 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Nottingham Forest

What a mess - and it could easily be 1-1. Sloppy defending and then nervous finishing.

A high ball is aimed towards Rudy Gestede and Forest keeper Brice Samba tries to claim it, challenging Gestede in the air, but Samba collides with his own man, Matty Cash, and spills it.

The ball falls kindly to Lewis Wing inside the area, with the goal gaping, but he takes too long and Samba does well to dive across and make an important save in the end.

Tobias Figueiredo is on hand to head it clear.

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Nottingham Forest

For me, Paddy McNair's at fault for that opening goal. He's completely asleep from the throw-in.

  7. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Fair play to Boro - they almost respond within 90 seconds or so.

Hayden Coulson races on to Rudy Gestede's ball and drives a low shot just past the far post. Bad luck.

  8. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 0-1 Nottingham Forestpublished at 29 mins

    Ryan Yates

Forest break the deadlock and it's all a bit easy. From a throw on the left, Alfa Semedo gets too much room and makes Paddy McNair look a bit silly.

Semedo finds Sammy Ameobi, who lays the ball off to Ryan Yates outside the area and Yates finishes very well, low in the bottom corner.

Only Hull (five) have picked up fewer points in 2020 in the Championship than Middlesbrough (seven) so far.

Marvin Johnson yells at Lewis Wing to 'get your head up' after his Boro team-mate didn't quite pick him out when he was in space. It's tense out there. Everyone knows there's a lot riding on this game.

  11. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Boro's Lewis Wing gets a shot on target but it's a fairly tame one, from outside the box, low and straight in to the arms of Brice Samba.

Richard Ottaway: Forest don't have the squad to make the top two but I fancy us to win the play-offs given we haven't lost against a top-10 side since the first game of the season.

A Forest win tonight would create an eight-point gap to seventh-placed Bristol City and, tantalisingly, put them within six points of second-placed Leeds.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Lewis Wing's effort from the free-kick hits the top of the Forest wall. Alfa Semedo takes it straight in the face! He didn't flinch at all. Fair play.

Lewis Wing is clipped by Ben Watson and the hosts have a free-kick in a dangerous position, just outside the box.

  15. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Nottingham Forest

It's very, very quiet at the Riverside. 'Is this a library?' ask the away fans.

On the pitch, it's been relatively circumspect from both sides, although Forest are having the better of things so far.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Nottingham Forest

    Jonathan WoodgateImage source, Rex Features

Jonathan Woodgate's side have only scored 34 league goals this season, which is the lowest in the division by a fair margin. The hosts need a confidence boost.

As it is, they're doing some defending, as Forest win another corner, but Tobias Figueiredo scuffs a shot wide.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Hayden Coulson whips in a good cross from the left, aimed towards Rudy Gestede's outstretched boot, but Gestede can't quite reach it.

Boro haven't scored a goal since 11 February, after drawing a blank in each of their past three games. Oh how they'd love an early strike tonight to ease some of the tension.

The visitors claim the game's first corner but nothing comes of it.

Sabri Lamouchi's men were 1-0 winners last time out, away at Cardiff City on Tuesday.
