Well, cup finals don't come much better than that - and nor do dramatic endings.

Beth England was the difference-maker as her two goals gave Chelsea the Women's League Cup for the very first time.

But goalkeeper Ann Katrin-Berger's contribution was just as important, the Germany stopper making several key saves to thwart an Arsenal side who arguably had more chances than the Blues.

"I could probably come across as being little bit biased and pro my team, but I was really proud of them, we had the ball and we had chances.

"I saw how my team at 1-0 down completely dominated this game and we have to hold our heads up, we were fantastic. They're an amazing group and we have to take this medicine and it's very hard to accept.

"We're still in three very important competitions and we'll keep continuing and going forward.

"It's difficult, but this team are a great bunch of players and they'll continue to fight and go forward."

"To win here is childhood-dream stuff here today - managing at the ground of the legend Brian Clough.

"The best team didn't win the game, the most resilient team won the game with a goalkeeper who had a tremendous performance.

"I always felt this was going to be a really tough final, but that resilient performance is why we've come away with the trophy.

Chelsea, who are just seven wins from the Women's Super League title and through to the FA Cup quarter-finals, could well be on for a treble now.

There's a long way to go but it's the first time they've had a chance of a domestic treble, having got the first trophy in the bag.

"It's been amazing since making the move, the girls have welcomed me in and that's why I came here - to win trophies.

"The girls worked tremendously well throughout the game and we wanted to win this so badly.

"We showed resilience and it was a terrific feeling at full-time to come out winners."

There it is - Chelsea have the trophy aloft and the celebrations can really get under way now!

They take it over to dance in front of their travelling fans in the corner, on this bitterly cold night in the East Midlands. The blue flags are waving.

Chelsea goalkeeper and player of the match Ann-Katrin Berger on BT Sport:

"It feels unbelievable. Everyone put in such a great shift and I'm just a small part of it, so it's tremendous to win in a final.

"To win that cup is great and now we're obviously hungry for more for the rest of this season.

"It doesn't matter how we start or how we finish in games, we just want to win."

Beth England's story is incredible. In 2015 she was training at left-back. She didn't fit in at Chelsea.

She went away on loan, came back and now she's one of the best players in the country.

She has had to work hard. She keeps scoring and she's a big player for Chelsea.

"I'm not going to lie, there was no way we were going to extra time - my legs didn't have it in me!

"It's an unbelievable effort from the girls. We sometimes like to do things the hard way and to get that late goal is a great feeling.

"I thought Arsenal were absolutely terrific and played tremendously well.

"But we found a way to win and bring the trophy home."

That really was an excellent final. Arsenal are runners-up for a second year in a row but in very different circumstances.

Last year we saw a cagey 0-0 draw and then penalties. Not today. It was full of energy and both teams taking chances at times, and then late drama.

Arsenal's players sink to their knees. They fought and fought and fought. But they were denied in stoppage time.

Jordan Nobbs swings in a dangerous cross from the right but Ann-Katrin Berger just does enough to claim it away from the waiting Vivianne Miedema.
