This is a good spell for Hearts, they're taking the game to Rangers. It's great delivery from Michael Smith, brilliant play. I think Washington has got to score. What an opportunity.

  5. CLOSE!published at 28 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Hearts go close again! Michael Smith does well to jink past his marker and swings in a cross, which Conor Washington heads over from around eight yards out.

That's a great chance for the Northern Irishman. Hearts need to take one of these.

That yellow card was given by Willie Collum because the referee hasn't seen it. He's given yellow, but it quite easily could've been red.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 25 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Allan McGregor springs into action to tip Steven Naismith's header over the bar!

  8. YELLOW CARD- Ryan Jack (Rangers)published at 23 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Ryan Jack is booked for a heavy challenge on Michael Smith. Some might view that as a sending off, it's really late. The Hearts fans certainly thought so.

  9. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Hearts are on top here, but the final product is lacking. Rangers are slipping back into their domestic slumber at the moment.

  10. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Nice intricate passing from Hearts gives Lewis Moore space just inside the box to check that Allan McGregor's still awake.

George Edmundson had a full grip of Steven Naismith's shirt there. Whether it was enough for him to go down or not, I don't know.

  12. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Scrappy game so far, with an odd atmosphere. Tynecastle is usually rocking on occasions like this, but it's all a bit flat.

Meanwhile, George Edmundson does some cleaning up for Rangers as he holds off Steven Naismith in the box. The big Englishman was brilliant in Braga on Wednesday.

I really hope I'm wrong, but the way he pulled his leg back makes me think it could be his achilles or something. That boy has some terrible luck, I really feel heart sorry for him. The problems just mount up for Hearts. He's played a lot of football since he's come back from injury, but my goodness this is a sad sight to see him lying there.

  14. Souttar off injuredpublished at 14 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

It's a real shame for John Souttar, could it be his achilles again? Hopefully not. He's a talented young player who keeps getting bad injuries. Clevid Dikamona is set to replace him as the stretcher comes on.

This season just gets tougher and tougher for Hearts.

    Quote Message

I think this is going to be a nervous Hearts team. Bozanic and Damour haven't played a lot and have been given a start tonight. The centre-halves will be quite happy it's only Greg Stewart they have to contend with, but his movement could still prove a problem.

  18. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

Tynecastle is sparsely populated by home fans tonight, which is unlike them. Hard to blame them given their team's form and the weather, and the fact it's on TV.

On the pitch, Rangers earned a corner but it came to nothing. On we go...

  19. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Hearts 0-0 Rangers

It's been fairly frantic opening on a boggy pitch at Tynecastle. Hearts looking to play out from the back, Rangers looking to press high up the pitch. Could be intriguing.

In the first 20 seconds, Hearts defender John Souttar clatters into Greg Stewart, Could be an interesting battle!
