  3. Defoe returnspublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

It's a big boost for Rangers to have Jermain Defoe back on the bench for the first time since injuring his knee against Ross County a month ago.

The former England captain has 17 goals in 30 appearances this term, a lot of which have come from the bench. Clinical.

  4. 'Every positive result can help' - Stendelpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

Hearts head coach Daniel Stendel speaking to BBC Radio Scotland: "On one side we want to be more stable in defence, and on the other we want to have more when Rangers are in possession.

"Liam Boyce was ill, then picked up a small injury on Thursday. We said it would be better if he didn't start today, but he can come on and make an impact."

"The club has a big history in the cup and we want to show it again, but every positive result can help us at the moment."

  5. More from Gerrard on Morelos...published at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:3))

"I've decided to pick players that have done the full preparation and that are desperate to be here and help us get through to the next round," Gerrard told Premier Sports.

"Alfredo's not with us today because of a disciplinary issue. He was given permission last week to go to Colombia on Sunday until Wednesday to deal with a family matter, which we supported and agreed to

"He's reported back 24 hours late from that and due to that he's failed to report to training on Thursday, which means he's missed a lot of the preparation going into this game."

  6. Free hit for Hearts?published at 17:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

"Our attention is on the league, we have to stay up," Those are the words of Hearts defender John Souttar, speaking earlier this week.

"It's almost a free hit for us because it's a cup game and it's Rangers," the Scotland defender added.

Hearts are currently two points adrift at the foot of the Premiership table so it's understandable. Do you agree with him Hearts fans? Would you take relegation if it meant another glorious day at Hampden?

  7. Rangers to restore domestic dominance?published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

2020 has been a difficult year for Rangers so far on the domestic front, where they've slipped 12 points behind leaders Celtic.

They've performed brilliantly in the Europa League but have lost to Hearts and Kilmarnock and drawn with Aberdeen and St Johnstone since returning from Dubai.

Will the boost from Braga finally put an end to their Scottish stutter?

I think it's really poor from Alfredo Morelos. Clearly Steven Gerrard has disciplined him, but that's a really big decision. It's one of those, do you suck it up, and say 'I'll deal with you on Monday because I need you for this game'? Or do you take the hard line and say 'no, actually, you're not involved if you can't show the professionalism'? It's a big call from the manager.

  10. Rangers' Tynecastle toilspublished at 17:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

Gorgie hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Rangers despite Hearts' poor season , having drawn 1-1 in October and lost 2-1 at the end of January. Will it be more of the same this afternoon?

The sides have also met at Hampden, in the League Cup semi-finals, and Ibrox, in the league, with Rangers winning by an aggregate score of 8-0.

So does the stadium a game's played at really make much of a difference?

  11. Morelos missing for disciplinary issuepublished at 17:08 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has just told Premier Sports that Alfredo Morelos is not in the squad because of a disciplinary issue.

According to the Rangers manager, the striker was given permission to return to Colombia to deal with a family matter this week, and reported back 24 hours late, missing training on Thursday.

Remember, he was suspended for the Europa League win against Braga on Wednesday having picked up a booking in the first leg, so did not travel with the squad.

  12. More of the same?published at 16:59 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

Hibernian are the first club to make it through to the semi-finals after beating Inverness CT 5-2 last night at Easter Road.

We had seven goals, a missed penalty and a red card. More of the same in these two games would be ideal!

  13. Rangers without Morelos as Gerrard makes two changespublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 February 2020

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

Rangers are without Alfredo Morelos this afternoon, as the Colombian drops out of the squad along with fellow striker Florain Kamberi, who is cup tied having already played in the competition this season for parent club Hibernian. Jermain Defoe returns, but just on the bench.

Ianis Hagi also begins among the substitutes, as manager Steven Gerrard makes two changes from Wednesday's win over Sporting Braga in the Europa League, with Greg Stewart and Joe Aribo coming in to the starting line-up.

    Hearts v Rangers (17:30)

Hearts make four changes to the side that came back to salvage a late draw against Hamilton a fortnight ago. The defence remains the same but Andy Irving and Jamie Walker drop to the bench with Lewis Moore, Loic Damour and Oliver Bozanic playing in midfield.

Liam Boyce, who scored the winner against Rangers last month, and Uche Ikpeazu also drop out with Conor Washington partnering Steven Naismith in attack.
