On the day Rory McKenzie makes his 250th appearance for Killie, Stephen Hendrie makes his first start for the Ayrshire outfit, coincidentally against the club where he started his career. The left-back has only made one substitute appearance since joining Killie after being released by Southend United in the summer.

  6. Hibs 'need to win' for higher finishpublished at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross: "It's not a question of us having to show character because the players have shown that in abundance. The only thing you can ever affect is the next game.

"To have any chance of finishing higher up the table, we need to win this game.

"Playing at home is sometimes more difficult than playing away from home. Not just for Aberdeen, not just for Hibernian. If we can get ahead today, hopefully that'll go in our favour.

"With Marc McNulty being suspended, if Jamie Gullan grasps that opportunity, he'll stay in the team."

  7. Small steps so far - Stendelpublished at 14:54 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Hearts manager Daniel Stendel admits that, despite success against Hibs and Rangers in recent games, his side have still only taken "small steps" towards league survival.

"Today we have the next chance for three points," he tells BBC Scotland. "We're playing against a team third in the table - a good team - but we have shown in the last few games some good form and I hope we can show the same today."

Stendel explains why Steven Naismith is back off the bench to replace Liam Boyce up front.

"We have two very good players in Steven and Liam, but at the moment we only want one in the starting line-up," he says

"With Conor Washington, we have a different striker. It gives us more options - it worked in the last two games very well."

  8. Robinson eyes top-six finishpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson says his focus is squarely on securing a top-six finish before he thinks about his side finishing third.

"First and foremost is to secure a top six finish and then we'll worry about that afterwards," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"It would be a massive achievement that no one outside the football club would have imagined at the start of the season. I keep doing short-term things - the first is getting top-six secured then we've got some more we can go and try and achieve after that.

"We're facing a team with a lot of talented players in it - I don't think that's been in doubt since the start of the season.

"They will press us and hopefully we can expose that with our pace upfront. We're the team sitting third so we can go in with some belief."

  9. We must maintain standards - Lennonpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Celtic v St Mirren (15:00)

Celtic manager Neil Lennonis determined his side will not get complacent despite their lead at the top of the table.

"There's a motivation there to maintain their standards," he tells BBC Scotland.

"We are at home against a dogged team and we have to be concentrated and play with a tempo that makes it difficult for St Mirren."

Lennon reveals why he has made two changes.

"Today we just have a bit of squad rotation," he says. "Tom Rogic did very well when he came on in midweek and Leigh Griffiths has been playing well."

  10. History hangs heavily on St Mirrenpublished at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Celtic v St Mirren (15:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
    BBC Sport Scotland

St Mirren desperately need points, but history suggests they will get zero today.

It’s 30 years since they last beat Celtic in the east end of Glasgow. What a victory that was - a young Paul Lambert inspiring the Buddies on a sunny afternoon back in 1990, scoring the final goal in an incredible 3-0 victory on a day to forget for BBC Scotland's very own Pat Bonner, who was between the Celtic sticks.

The last time St Mirren escaped with a point was on 8 December 2007, a young Stephen McGinn - the current club captain - opening the scoring before a Derek Riordan strike rescued a point for Celtic.

Since then, it’s been 12 victories in a row for Celtic at home to the Paisley side - a few thumpings in there as well. Few will be predicting an upset this afternoon and most Celtic fans will be fully expecting to be 16 points clear of Rangers at the top of the Premiership come 5pm.

  11. Holt and Hendry return for Saintspublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    St Johnstone v Livingston (15:00)

The hosts make five changes from the side that drew away to St Mirren.

On-loan Celtic right-back Anthony Ralston finds himself on the bench as striker Callum Hendry returns after missing the midweek draw against St Mirren with a foot injury.

Fellow striker Chris Kane is named as a substitute despite having stitches under his eye on Wednesday night.

On-loan Rangers midfielder Jason Holt makes it into the starting XI, as David Wotherspoon drops to the bench.

Callum Booth also drops to the bench, with Liam Gordon, Scott Tanser and Matt Butcher getting the nod from Tommy Wright.

Midfielder Liam Craig is suspended following his red card in Paisley.

Just two changes for the visitors, as defender Mikey Devlin and midfielder Marvin Bartley, who returned from an ankle injury as a midweek substitute against Celtic, start as Aaron Taylor-Sinclair and Steve Lawson drop out.

  12. Confident Covepublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Scottish League Two

Cove Rangers will be confident of at least maintaining their 10-point lead at the top of League Two as they entertain Brechin City, who are seven points adrift at the bottom and without a win in 10 games.

Second-top Edinburgh City would be similarly confident as they are visited by an Albion Rovers side who have suffered four straight defeats if it was not for their own three-match run without a win.

Third-top Cowdenbeath visit off-form Annan Athletic, while fourth-placed Queen's Park are away to Stenhousemuir.

Stirling Albion, unbeaten in three outings, look to continue their good form away to an Elgin City who are one place and one point above them in fifth.

  13. Leaders hot favouritespublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Scottish League One

Leaders Raith Rovers and second-top Falkirk will be looking to get back to winning ways after their draw last weekend following a defeat each.

Both will be confident of wins as they host sides without a win in four games - Rovers hosting second-bottom Forfar Athletic and the Bairns up against third-bottom Peterhead.

Airdrieonians host East Fife with both tied four points below Falkirk.

Fifth-placed Montrose will look to make up front as they host bottom side Stranraer, who have not won in 12 outings.

Clyde look to continue their improved form as they seek a third consecutive win, but visitors Dumbarton are looking for their fourth victory on the trot.

  14. Dons see red at homepublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland

As the Premiership season starts to enter the business end of the campaign, the important games are coming thick and fast – and this afternoon’s Aberdeen-Hibs encounter is certainly one of them.

The fourth-placed Dons have lost their last four league games at Pittodrie. In fact, you have to go back to the 26 December for the last time they registered a top-division win on home turf.

Hibs head coach Jack Ross will be hoping his side have got their damaging midweek home defeat by Edinburgh rivals Hearts out of their system.

Up until that result, their recent form had been pretty good and, if they can rediscover it, they will fancy their chances of a win that would move them to within two points of their hosts.

  17. Wednesday night 'history' - Ricepublished at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Hamilton Academical v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Hamilton Accies head coach Brian Rice tells BBC Scotland that he has returned to earth after their surprise win over Rangers at Ibrox.

"Wednesday night was a fantastic achievement for the club and a welcome three points for the team," he says.

"I believe, if we put the performances in as we did the other night, we've got a chance of staying up.

"That's history now. Today is the only thing that matters."

  18. Rogic and Griffiths startpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Celtic v St Mirren (15:00)

Australia's assistant manager, Rene Meulenstten, was this week quoted urging Tom Rogic to leave Celtic because of a lack of first-team starts.

Well, the midfielder is back in the side to face St Mirren today in place of the absent Ryan Christie.

Manager Neil Lennon reunites Leigh Griffiths with Odsonne Edouard up front, with the Scotland striker taking the place of Mohamed Elyounoussi.

St Mirren counterpart Jim Goodwin makes three changes, with Cameron MacPherson back in central midfield, Tony Andreu supporting the strikers and Junior Morais up front.

Veteran former Celtic wide man Ryan Wallace drops to the bench along with Ilkay Durmus and on-loan Watford striker Alex Jakubiak.

  19. Naismith starts for Heartspublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

Heart of Midlothian v Motherwell (15:00)

Steven Naismith is the only change Hearts have made to the side that beat Hibs 3-1 during the week.

The Scotland forward, who was dropped to the bench in midweek, replaces Liam Boyce, who drops to the bench, as Daniel Stendel's side aim to record back-to-back victories in the Premiership for the first time since February 2019.

Motherwell make no changes to the side that beat Ross County 4-1 during the week, with David Turnbull starting on the bench once more as the midfielder continues his return from a long-term knee injury.

Midfielder Liam Polworth was a fitness doubt for Stephen Robinson but starts for the away side.

  20. Still no Cosgrove in Dons squadpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2020

    Aberdeen v Hibernian (15:00)

Thre's one change in the Aberdeen starting line-up, with midfielder Dylan McGeouch replacing defender Michael Devlin, who drops to the bench. Top scorer Sam Cosgrove is still missing with a back injury. Dean Campbell, back from suspension, is one of the substitutes.

Hibs make two changes. Defender Steven Whittaker and striker Jamie Gullan are in for the benched Stephane Omeonga and the suspended Marc McNulty. McNulty was given a two-match ban for stamping on Hearts' Sean Clare in Tuesday's Edinburgh derby loss.
