Man City v Burnley (20:00 BST)

Pep Guardiola is not taking any chances on fitness. Plenty of changes to his starting XI, with Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte and more benched. Sergio Aguero starts, as does Phil Foden.

There are going to be some fuming fantasy football managers.

Burnley really are struggling, with both injuries and contract issues. Only seven subs and a lot of unfamiliar names. Matej Vydra and Jay Rodriguez are the two strikers.

So basically, City's job between now and the end of the league season is to make life as difficult as they can for Liverpool and to try and turn what, at one stage, was a steamroller procession towards a long-awaited title into a somewhat anti-climactic trot over the line.

I'm interested to know, though, if any of you out there actually think they'll do anything but win tonight? Is there one of you willing to stick your head above the parapet and go for a Burnley win?

Actually, let's take that as a launching off point. How about you get in touch and offer us your hottest, logic be damned, contrary opinion about football? But keep it clean and decent, eh.

  3. When will this all be sorted?published at 18:53 British Summer Time 22 June 2020

Tonight's game is central to what happens to the timing of Liverpool's inevitable title win.

A City loss to Burnley (come on, don't scoff) would mean that Liverpool could still win the title at Anfield on Wednesday, when Crystal Palace are the visitors.

Even a draw for City will allow the Reds to clinch the league with three points against Palace.

If Pep Guardiola's win tonight, as expected, then we go to 25 June and City's trip to Chelsea. A failure to win there and Liverpool are champions without even playing.

Should City win both their next two games and Liverpool beat Palace then we all tune in to what could be a belting game between the two on 2 July.

Man City v Burnley (20:00 BST)

They might have taken a completely understandable 40 minutes or so to warm up last Wednesday, but once they were into their stride (with more than a little help from David Luiz) Manchester City looked exactly like, well, Manchester City.

Tonight, we get another serving of the second best side in the country as they look to prolong Liverpool's wait for a first title in 30 years.

It is the smallest spanner they could possibly throw into the works, but a vital one, for pride if nothing else.
