The stats aren't great for Sean Dyche in his personal battle against Nigel Pearson.

That one victory came ironically when Dyche was manager of Watford. His side beat Pearson's Leicester City in the second tier on 14 February 2012.

  4. Sako to extend his stay?published at 17:41 British Summer Time 25 June 2020

    Southampton v Arsenal (18:00 BST)

It hasn't been a great return to football for Arsenal but manager Mikel Arteta did have a bit of good news about the future of Bukayo Sako, whose contract runs out in 2021.

He said: "I am very positive everything we will be done with Bukayo very shortly. The communication between the club, the agents and his family have been going on for months and is very fluent.

"The player and the family know how much trust I have with him. I think he is showing that every week and his consistency levels are getting better and better. I’m so excited with the young players we have.

"They just need the right environment around them to explode and Bukayo is doing that in difficult circumstances.”

Sean Dyche is a legend. But we already knew that.

His many achievements on the pitch are well documented, but there are so many tall tales about Burnley's long-serving manager off the pitch that it's difficult to know what's true and what's fable.

Remember when it went around that the reason for his gruff voice was that he used to eat worms?, external

    Burnley v Watford (18:00 BST)

More from ex Burnley and Republic of Ireland forward Jon Walters on Sean Dyche:

"To bring in a director of football that takes away decisions from the manager, you look at that and think something would be brewing and it seems to be coming to a head now.

"If Sean has done such a good job, you let him carry on what he is doing.

"With a manager like Sean Dyche who likes to make his own decisions you either back the manager or you don’t."

Former Burnley and Republic of Ireland forward Jon Walters has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live about how he sees his former club finishing the Premier League season and more importantly whether he thinks Sean Dyche is heading for a Turf Moor exit.

Media reports suggest that Dyche is considering leaving Burnley after becoming frustrated by the club’s approach to player contracts and transfers.

"Burnley will be looking at that top 10 target that everyone is always talking about," Walters said.

"They will be aiming to finish the season strongly and getting in the top 10 will be the main aim.

"If you look back a couple of years Mike Rigg was brought in as a director of football at Burnley. People were saying that he and Sean Dyche would clash heads.

"Sean has made all the decisions there and you cannot knock what he has done or say he has signed the wrong players. He has one of the lowest budgets, they pay one of the lowest amounts in agent fees, they do everything to a budget and they have overachieved."

Arsenal will start this evening's game at Southampton 11 points adrift of the top four after losing both their fixtures after the resumption of the season.

The Champions League places could move even further out of reach if results don't go Arsenal's way tonight, but boss Mikel Arteta insists his only focus is on getting back to winning ways as soon as possible.

"Until we start to win games, the Champions League objective is too far at the moment,” he said.

“My only focus is going to Southampton and getting the three points — win, lift the players and start believing again that we can get wins in a row.”

Liverpool fans have been urged not to congregate for celebrations if the club seals its first Premier League title, amid public health concerns.

The Reds will clinch their first league title in 30 years if Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea later.

In such an event, fans are being urged by the city's metro mayor to be the "best 'stay at home' fans in the world".

Steve Rotheram said the "amazing season" can have "the celebration it deserves" when it is safe to do so.

Joe Blott, chairman of supporters' group Spirit of Shankly, said it had worked with the football club, police and council on a message that focuses on the safety of the public during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Fans have been brilliant in heeding these joint messages," he said.

  20. 'People are becoming more educated'published at 16:50 British Summer Time 25 June 2020

    Burnley v Watford (18:00 BST)

Burnley boss Sean Dyche says a 'White Lives Matter Burnley' banner flown over Etihad Stadium was "a moment nobody wanted" but believes people are becoming "more educated in life".

The banner appeared during Manchester City's 5-0 win over Burnley on Monday.

Jake Hepple, who ordered the banner, has been sacked from his job.

Dyche said: "Everyone is getting more and more educated in life. The silver lining is that the reaction to that moment has been so overpowering to things that need addressing."
