There's a long way to go yet, but if the scoreline was to stay like this, it'd be a seventh game without a win for Bristol City, and a fifth defeat in that run.

That's not play-off form, by anybody's book. Can they turn this around?

The Owls' Jordan Rhodes gets the game's first booking. He was a bit late with a boot on to the top of Han-Noah Massengo's foot.

The home side, who are playing in their usual red shirts and white shorts, have seen slightly more of the ball so far, despite trailing.

As we reach the halfway stage of this first half, it's time for the first drinks break.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk will be very pleased with his side's 1-0 lead, which came through Connor Wickham's header.

Bristol City are shouting for a penalty as Barry Bannan gives Andreas Weimann a little nudge in the back and he goes over in the area after running in from the right.

Nothing doing, says the referee. Some might feel that was a foul, but I think the ball might have been just out of play already - or at least running off and behind for a goal kick - when the contact came.

    Connor Wickham

Sheffield Wednesday take the lead through Connor Wickham's strong header from a corner... But where was the marking?

Nobody tracks Wickham's run and he has almost an entire living room's worth of space all to himself to guide the ball in to the far corner past Niki Maenpaa.

With his right foot, from the left flank, City's Jack Hunt whips in a dangerous, inswinging free-kick towards Nahki Wells in the box, but Wells just misses it and Joe Wildsmith makes the catch.

I've just seen that Joe Wildsmith save for a second time and it's a brilliant stop. He got a really strong hand to it, down to his left at the back post. It's very good. No, wait - it's very, very, very good.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 5 mins

    Bristol City 0-0 Sheff Wed

The Owls' first corner, from the left, goes deep beyond the back post and is blocked behind for another corner by Andreas Weimann. The second, whipped in by Barry Bannan, is held by the hosts' keeper Niki Maenpaa.

Up the other end, from a corner of their own, Bristol City's Nathan Baker gets his head on it at the far post and is denied by Joe Wildsmith's outstretched hand. It's a terrific reaction save.

The referee John Brooks' whistle echoes around a near-empty Ashton Gate, on a windy day in the West Country.

Both sets of players, and the officials, take a knee to show their support to the Black Lives Matter movement.

And now, we begin... The Owls get things going.

Out come the players, one team at a time down the tunnel at Ashton Gate, in line with football's 'new normal'.

When these two side's last met, a late Barry Bannan penalty gave the Owls a 1-0 win in a tight game at Hillsborough in December, just before Christmas. What treats will today's game offer?

  18. Can Robins climb back up to seventh?published at 11:48 British Summer Time 28 June 2020

In today's first game, Bristol City know they really need a result to avoid risking being left behind in this fast-evolving race for the play-offs.

Having been seventh - just one point off sixth spot - before the Championship resumed last week, the Robins are now five points off the pace in 12th. A defeat at Blackburn eight days ago, coupled with Cardiff and Derby's impressive form, prompted that.

But a victory today would take Lee Johnson's side straight back up to seventh spot and put a much more positive outlook on things for them, amid one of the most competitive races for the top six we've seen in recent years. The pressure is on!
