I can see the intent in what Boro are trying to do, but they're missing a few players to give them that bit of spark or that pass.

On top of the public not being allowed into football grounds, only limited numbers of media are able to enter and be the eyes and ears of the absent fans.

Although BBC Radio WM will have live commentary of today’s game, their usual matchday summariser, Albion legend Tony Brown, is not here to see it in person.

While commentator Rob Gurney will cut a lone vigil in the press box, "Bomber" is at home watching on a live stream and will offer his usual informed and passionate comments.

He might not be here himself, but at least his statue is!

A yellow card for Boro's Marvin Johnson, who bundles Todd Kane over by the edge of the box.

Free-kick in a dangerous position for QPR... through the wall from Ryan Manning and a superb save low to his right from Dejan Stojanovic!

GOAL: Middlesbrough 0-1 QPRpublished at 32 mins

    Jordan Hugill

A wonderful, wonderful goal by Jordan Hugill! But it might have come at a cost as Hugill goes down clutching his hamstring after scoring.

A diagonal ball from the left picks out Hugill, who shoots first-time and lobs the goalkeeper from 25 yards.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 QPR

A much better chance for Jordan Hugill and he should have scored the opener for QPR.

Jonny Howson is robbed of the ball in midfield and Hugill is sent through on goal.

George Friend and Dejan Stojanovic do really well to keep out his shot.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 QPR

Jordan Hugill gets his first sight of goal for QPR against the club with which he spent last season on loan from West Ham.

The striker's header from a right-wing cross is never troubling the Middlesbrough goal, though.

Time for the first drinks break of the day at the Riverside, and Middlesbrough will be marginally the happier of the two sides with what we've seen so far.

A reminder that they'll move out of the relegation zone if they better Hull's result at West Bromwich Albion later this afternoon.

Both Middlesbrough strikers force saves from QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley in the space of 40 seconds.

Britt Assombalonga tries his luck from long range and his attempt is well held, while Lumley pushes Ashley Fletcher's angled shot over the bar for a corner.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 QPR

Boro winger Patrick Roberts gives away a needless free-kick on the touchline near the halfway line, right in front of his manager Neil Warnock.

Warnock stares at Roberts with his arms outstretched, as if to say "why did you do that?"

Just before that, QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley raced off his line quickly to deny Ashley Fletcher.

Boro haven't won at home in 2020 - a statistic Neil Warnock will be wanting his team to put right today.

Home goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic is called upon to keep out Todd Kane's effort. It was one of those that was meant as a cross but was mishit and became a very dangerous attempt at goal.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 QPR

Excellent play by Harold Moukoudi in midfield sets Britt Assombalonga away on the Middlesbrough left.

He cuts inside and fires in a shot from 25 yards, which is comfortably saved by Joe Lumley.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 QPR

QPR resumed the season six points off the play-off spots, but have lost all three matches since the Championship returned and are now only six points above the relegation zone.

All three losses have been by a one-goal margin, but boss Mark Warburton was keen to take the positives from Tuesday's defeat by Fulham.

He said: "The more you play like that, the belief's got to grow. If we play like that week in week out, we'll be in a good place come the end of the season."

After starting with two away fixtures, Neil Warnock takes charge of Middlesbrough for the first time at home today.

Warnock succeeded Jonathan Woodgate as Boro boss shortly after the season's resumption and started his reign with a 2-0 win at Stoke.

Things were going well at Hull on Thursday too, with Britt Assombalonga's penalty giving them an early lead, but Mallik Wilks' injury-time goal consigned them to a 2-1 defeat.
