The hosts have struggled to provide any real service to front man Rhian Brewster so far. You sense his first-half touch map would look pretty sparse.

  2. CLOSE!published at 36 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Wed

The Swans defence are putting their bodies on the line to keep the score goalless, with a couple of very good blocks denying Alessio Da Cruz from inside the area, after good play from Massimo Luongo.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 34 mins

Swansea's Jay Fulton slides in on Julian Borner but Fulton's a little late and clips the Wednesday man. It's the game's first yellow card.

Swansea have won just two of their past 12 league games. They really need a win today, if they're to keep their top-six dream alive.

But they haven't really clicked into gear yet this afternoon. It's been a quiet first half an hour.

Garry Monk's visitors, who won at Ashton Gate last Sunday, are aiming to win consecutive away league games for the first time since September.

They look to be edging things at the moment at the Liberty.

Those two chances for Jacob Murphy illustrate the gaps Swansea are leaving in their new system.

The hosts seem to have switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their three at the back leaving Murphy with too much space on Sheffield Wednesday's right.

Murphy, whose brother Josh plays for Swansea's arch rivals Cardiff, perhaps should have done better with both chances.

    Warning signs for the Swans.

Wednesday's Jacob Murphy has too much room again, inside the penalty area, and has a second good opportunity to score in the space of two minutes, but this time he shoots low, straight into the hands of Freddie Woodman.

  10. CHANCE!published at 14 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Sheff Wed

The best move of the game so far leads to a great chance for Jacob Murphy, in space on the right side of the penalty area, but his first-time effort flies over the bar.

In his defence, I think the ball bounced just in front of him, which made it harder to get a clear connection on the strike.

It's not been an electric start - which seems to have been the case relatively frequently in this unusual summer - but both sides are trying to knock the ball around.

Swansea force the first corner, on their right, and Matt Grimes whips it in a decent delivery towards the near post.

Andre Ayew is in there in the middle, challenging for the ball with Owls keeper Joe Wildsmith, but Ayew can't quite direct a header goalwards.

The Owls are looking for their first away win against Swansea since 1983 - they're winless in four visits since then in all competitions.

They've got the ball in their own half early on.

The players are out in the sunshine at the Liberty Stadium, with the visitors coming down the tunnel first.

Wednesday are in their alternate strip with green shirts, green shorts and green socks. They're actually quite well camouflaged on the pitch, to my eyes.

Swansea are in their traditional white kit.
