Simon Atkins: It's very simple what Villa need to do. Don't concede more than they score, and they're guaranteed something!

Grealish is down on the turf. To be honest, I might just report the times that he's stood up. That'd be easier.

Mo Salah wants a penalty. He won't get one, though. The Liverpool forward dances and jinks and shimmies and turns to try and get away from a host of Villa players before dropping after contact from one of them.

I think he knew he was going nowhere, though, and tried to pull a bit of a fast one. However, it was a tad clumsy from Douglas Luiz, sticking his leg in.

I don't think Jurgen Klopp is massively into breaking records - I don't think it turns him on. Winning the league was the main target this season, but he's picked a strong team. He will want a performance because their performances since the season restarted have been up and down.

  12. 'It's a massive task'published at 16:25 British Summer Time 5 July 2020

Liverpool v Aston Villa (16:30 BST)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Sky Sports on his team changes: "First of all it was the number of games we had. We need a mix of rhythm and fresh legs.. We have three new players I think but we need legs in certain areas so that's the big change."

Reaction to the Man City defeat: "It was a game, a very important game. We were not at our best. We showed great mentality. They all showed we still have something to say."

On Liverpool's comeback to win 2-1 in the reverse fixture:"In the last few days I thought more about it because it was a very important game. It was pretty special that day. We were not at our best but showed a great mentality."

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith on Sky Sports: "It's a massive task. We're coming to the Premier League champions, world champions, European champions! I'm looking to see some fight.

"I thought Liverpool started the game really well the other night but didn't take their chances and got punished by a very good team. We know there is an opportunity but we have to be very good defensively."

On his plan today, Smith added:"To concede none and score one!"

    Liverpool v Aston Villa (16:30)

I am at this game for BBC Radio 5 live and I only see one winner. Liverpool were well beaten at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday but this is where we will see their response. The only way I could make a case for Aston Villa getting anything at Anfield is if Reds boss Jurgen Klopp decides to play a few of the kids. I know Villa are fighting for their lives, but they can't defend. They won't be able to keep Liverpool out.

    Prediction: 3-0

Given their GD and run in, that a significant point for West Ham and massive step closer to safety.

I expected Liverpool to play a really strong team today. I think if Mo Salah's strike that hit the post against Manchester City had gone in it would have been a different game. That game will have no bearing on next season. There is bound to be a little reduction in quality once you've won the league.

I mean, yeah Mark, it might have been different. They did take quite a battering in the end, though.

The Reds have made a few changes. They've taken out Hendo, Roberto and Georginio. The bad news for Villa is that they've brought in Naby, the Ox and Divock. And they've still go Mo, Sadio, Trent and the rest.

But hey, football is a funny old thing. You never know.

Well, it's not often we go into a game these days with a smarting Liverpool looking to lash out at some poor side after they've just taken a hammering.

    Pity poor Villa.
