Early days but as it stands Tottenham will be up to eighth in the table with three points here.

Yerry Mina is warming up but I think Mason Holgate is going to carry on for now. Seamus Coleman then overlaps well and wins a corner for Everton.

Decent effort! Eric Dier lines up the dead ball and curls it over the wall but on to the roof of the net. Jordan Pickford had it covered.

Mason Holgate is now down seeking treatment. He may have come off worse from that reducer.

    Tottenham 1-0 Everton

That's a bad tackle! Spurs counter really well at pace, that man Son on the charge again and he finds Gio lo Celso. His first touch isn't thebest and it tempts Mason Holgate in, the former Barnsley man clattering Lo Celso's shins late and high.

    It's a booking and a free-kick in a decent spot.

The goal has been given as a Michael Keane OG now which seems a bit harsh. Must have not been on target.

We had our statutory drinks break after that goal by the way, which was greeted by the loudest burst of Zombie Nation I've heard since Celtic were last in the Champions League.

One again, it was Son Heung-min who has been Spurs' best player, looking for a give-and-go.

Giovani Lo Celso hits a hopefully shot and it takes a horrible deflection.

It does not matter how or why for Jose Mourinho's team, they are 1-0 up.

  8. goal

GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Evertonpublished at 24 mins

    Michael Keane (OG)

Spurs had just gone up 10% in the last minute or so and now they take the lead! Harry Kane and Son link up nicely in a congested penalty area, Kane's shot is blocked but runs on to Gio lo Celso.

He swivels, fires in a powerful shot and it hits the back of Michael Keane and flies in. No chance Jordan Pickford.

Everton's recent record against the top six is incredible.

    Played 39, lost 29, drawn 10.

A shot! A shot on goal and it's a good one!

Spura patiently work the ball from left to right, Lucas Moura is in a pocket of space and before he can be closed down he hits a beauty of a 25-yard strike.

He swerves it around the defender but it's fading away from the corner and skims the post. Still no effort on target then, but a very creditable hit that one.

I finally got round to start watching The Last Dance this morning and was still mulling over Scottie Pippen signing that seven-year deal when news just breaks that in the NFL Patrick Mahomes has penned a 10-year contract with the Chiefs!

10 years! I'm sure he won't be complaining that he's underpaid but you never know. 2031 is a long way off.

This game is still locked in a midtable midfield muddle.

No shots attempted on goal as of yet, Everton now growing into the game but all of the play is in midfield.

I like GLC, carries the ball well in midfield. Former Arsenal man Alex Iwobi has the Spurs backline in a momentary flap as he looks to run in behind but Serge Aurier clears his lines on this occasion.

I think Richarlison is a real player, he is intelligent and pacy.

Spurs, though, would have expected more from Giovani Lo Celso since signing him.

Evidence of Mason Holgate's class there, carrying the ball into midfield and then slotting a lovely pass inside the Spurs full-back for Lucas Digne to run on to. He just can't quite wrap his boot around the cross on this occasion though.

Tom Davies is definitely on the right for Everton, who now look to build some pressure after being on the backfoot early on.

A bright start from Spurs, early days but Jose Mourinho needs a big start.

They need to get some momentum, they need to get up and running and they need three points.

Gio lo Celso's ball in is a good one which Eric Dier nods on, it's going well wide but an uncertain Jordan Pickford pushes it away for a corner anyway.

From the cleared set-piece Son puts in a fine ball which Michael Keane clears. It's all Spurs so far.

Sigurdsson is fortunate not to be booked for a pretty blatant looking handball which gives Spurs a free-kick in a dangerous spot.

It might just be for now but Tom Davies has started on the right of midfield, with Alex Iwobi on the left for Everton. I did wonder how they would shape up, Gylfi Sigurdsson does not like being out wide.
