Newcastle boss Steve Bruce, speaking to BBC Sport: “From where I was, the first penalty looked soft and they are the big defining moments in games.

"To lose that game on two penalties, the way they were, you could say we are a bit naïve but they were both really, really soft and when they are given against us, you do scratch your head at times and think what’s the point of the (Video Assistant Referee) technology for?"

  9. 'Don't think the job is done'published at 14:58 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    FT: Watford 2-1 Newcastle

    Watford

Watford boss Nigel Pearson to BBC Sport: "When you're in a situation that we find ourselves in, anxiety and fear can go a long way to derailing what you are trying to do.

"I understand that those blockages can come in and affect performance. What was important was that we were able to find the answers. It's never easy. I've been in that situation as a player, it can be very stressful and you have to perform.

"We've had a difficult season. When players are dealing with diappointment on a regular basis it's hard to go out and play with confidence. What we need is the commitment to have a positive intent and I really applaud the players for how they turned that round. Before this last week we'd not won from a losing position and they've done it twice this week.

"We have to keep focus, don't think the job is done. We are working hard - back in December it didn't look possible but throughout it all we have tried to remain positive. You've always got a better chance if the collective is stronger than the individial.

"Troy Deeney is someone who embraces pressure, he does not shirk responsibility and good for him. I am pleased for him today. Our job isn't finished yet."

A big day for Liverpool youngsters Curtis Jones and Neco Williams, who are given another opportunity by Jurgen Klopp.

Williams will play in his natural right-back position, while Jones has a freer role in midfield in the absence of Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

You'd expect Naby Keita to have a run around at some point today too.

    FT: Watford 2-1 Newcastle

    Watford

Watford manager Nigel Pearson, speaking to Amazon Prime: “It doesn’t matter how we win at the moment, as long as we do. And this gives us a little bit more of a chance.

“Until this past week we had not won from a losing position and we have done it twice now, so I understand that at times there is going to be some anxiety because of the fragility of our position, but we are working very, very hard.

“First half wasn’t good enough for us, but the players know that, it is not about ranting and raving. It is about trying to give them the encouragement they need to go out and be what they are, which is good players.”

  16. What records can Liverpool break?published at 14:48 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    Liverpool v Burnley (15:00 BST)

    As for Liverpool...

It's been an incredible season, in many ways, as Jurgen Klopp's side finally delivered that long overdue maiden Premier League title.

Now, with just four matches remaining and their captain injured, it would only be human nature for the Reds to take their foot off the gas and coast home.

But there is still plenty to play for - a place in the history books.

So what's still up for grabs?

  18. 'It is not good enough'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    FT: Norwich 0-4 West Ham

    Dion Dublin
Former Norwich striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It is horrible to watch. The Norwich fans will accept going down if you give them blood, sweat and tears. If you are getting paid to be a footballer, all you can do is run around and give your best.

Going down how they did today... there was no shouting, no screaming. If I was playing in that game today I would have had to say things to the players. Some of the goals they conceded, there was no fire, nobody shouting, clapping their hands, the keeper didn't really say anything when the goals went in. It is not good enough for Norwich as a football club and their fans.

  19. 'Pouncing on opportunities'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

    FT: Norwich 0-4 West Ham

    West Ham United

West Ham forward Michail Antonio speaking to BT Sport: "It’s an amazing feeling, when I scored the first two I could see they were quite open so it was a great opportunity. This is my first match ball and hopefully I can get some more. It’s been free flowing attacking football since we came back, the gaffer told me to wait in the box and I’m just pouncing on those opportunities.

"It eases pressure on us massively, the pressure is now on Bournemouth and Villa and we have a good goal difference over those sides. We just need to concentrate on ourselves now and not let this drop.

"All these matches coming up now are cup finals, everyone is a six pointer for us. We believe we’re going to be safe. We’ve got to focus on ourselves and carry on doing the right things."

  20. 'Henderson will lift trophy'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 11 July 2020

The big news out of Anfield this week was the knee injury to Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson, which will see him miss the remainder of the season.
