Edin Dzeko just loves to score and he's still doing it at the age of 34.

The former Manchester City striker has put Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 up away to Italy after pouncing on a loose ball inside the penalty area and beating the keeper with a shot into the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, Tottenham's Steven Bergwijn has put the Netherlands 1-0 up against Poland after tapping home.

  4. CLOSE!published at 58 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

There's got to be a second goal on the way, Romania look a threat every time they come forwards now. Nicusor Bancu is the latest to threaten, toe-bunging one wide on the stretch.

  5. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 55 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

Young Daniel Ballard flies into a tackle in the penalty area, it looks rash as he lunges in from quite a distance but he just about gets the ball first, with his trailing leg.

    Got away with one there.

  6. Elsewhere in Europepublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

To be honest there's not that many goals kicking about although Czech Republic have scored two quick goals in Slovakia and Austria are 2-0 up in Norway.

We're still awaiting a first goal in the games between Italy-Bosnia & Herzegovina as well as Netherlands-Poland.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 54 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

What a save that is! George Puscas must think he's got a second, heading down hard from a cross from the left. He'd lost Craig Cathcart, a brilliant header and Bailey Peacock-Farrell flies to his right to make a superb stop.

  8. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

A good spell for Northern Ireland but all they can muster is a flighted cross from the right which Romania clear away.

The 10 men have still had more shots on the night than their hosts.

  9. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

Romania catch NI square from the restart and a great ball across goal is nearly turned into his own net by Jamal Lewis. Northern Ireland, if you're just joining us, are down to 10 men.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

And we're back up and running.

It smells of early-season lack of concentration. There's a lack of adrenaline with no crowds and it's pretty mundane stuff. Every player feeds off a crowd and it is difficult. The sooner we get the crowds back in the stadiums the better.

  12. Announce Diangana!published at 20:47 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom have signed West Ham winger Grady Diangana for £18m after his fine loan spell last year. The transfer window is open until 5 October, remember.

  16. 'It's back against the walls time'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

    Quote Message

I know I complain there's no physical contact in the game now but the players have to realise that is how it is. If you touch a player they are going to go down. It's a nothing challenge and the player has gone down as if his jaw has been broken. It's sad for Ian Baraclough because all his preparations are out the window. It's backs against the wall time and the players need to be careful, there could be more than Josh Magennis off.

  17. goal

GOAL - Scotland 1-0 Israelpublished at 20:29 British Summer Time 4 September 2020

    Ryan Christie (Pen)

Scotland are off and running - Celtic's Ryan Christie fair whistles the penalty into the top corner with his left foot. Great hit.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 42 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

Very card-happy this ref as now Ianis Hagi goes in for a foul in midfield. That's five bookings now and there's not been a bad tackle out there.

  19. RED CARD - Josh Magennispublished at 39 mins
    Breaking

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

    Oh dear.

Josh Magennis is just too physical for referee Francois Letexier's liking. The Hull forward was booked for an elbow earlier on and now he gets a second yellow for again leading with the arm.

It's more of a wrestle than an elbow, and it's probably fine in League One but he gives the ref a decision to make.

A tough night ahead now for Ian Baraclough's men.

  20. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Romania 1-0 Northern Ireland

That's better from Northern Ireland, as they threaten from a set play. A good ball in finds youngster Daniel Ballard at the far post and his downward header is straight at the keeper.
