  1. 'Giroud loves playing Arsenal'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Rob Green
Former Chelsea keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

I messaged Olivier Giroud this morning. He's my mate so I'm only going to say good things about him. He's very much a feel-player - when he feels good and feels on top form that's when he is really bouncing and really loves his football.

Everyone has seen him volley the ball in with his left foot and he'll be stood there as the ball is coming to him - and he can't wait for the ball to arrive. He's that excited about shooting!

He really enjoys playing against Arsenal. I think the fans talked about Eden Hazard changing the game in the Europa League final in Baku. It was Olivier Giroud who scored one and set up two.

The first Saturday in August - it could well be Community Shield Day at Wembley but instead we're about to finally end the 2019-20 season in England.

    Let's do this!

Christian Pulisic's been a shining light for Chelsea this season and he seems to have a great partnership with Olivier Giroud building.

Christian Pulisic is getting better and better. I love the way he draws defenders in and wins fouls.

    Arsenal

This is Arsenal's final chance of securing European football for next season. The most recent campaign they did not play in European competition was 1995-96. If the Gunners lose this final, Wolverhampton Wanderers will claim a place in the qualifying rounds of the 2020-21 Europa League and Tottenham Hotspur will gain direct entry to the group stage of that tournament.

    Ashley Cole
Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender on 5 Live

I don't think Chelsea are the favourites. Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal and defensively they are more solid, the momentum could be with Arsenal.

Both managers have done phenomenal jobs. Frank [Lampard] came in with a transfer ban over his head and lost Eden Hazard. Arteta has learned a lot off Pep Guardiola.

  10. 'If you lose you are forgotten'published at 17:07 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard speaking to BBC One: "This is the new normal but hopefully not for the long term. I think we've got used to it. It means we can focus more on what happens on the pitch. We miss our fans but we can't let the lack of crowd affect us. It's a huge game.

"If you lose the final you are very quickly forgotten and we are here. I do have experience of good finals and not so good ones. You can lose a final but it can't be on us and how we prepare and come out. It feels like they are ready."

On selecting Christian Pulisic (and allowing BBC to run the featured clips on him!): "It was only for that! Christian was injured for the Manchester United game. He has been so important for us since the restart. His progression has been great and we want to see the Christian we have seen recently.

"It's a tough game. Generally in management I feel the good moments can be even better as a manager and the bad, even worse! That's the pressure I am under today. We want to do well for the fans."

  13. 'Luiz needs to feel the man'published at 17:01 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Ashley Cole
Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender on BBC One

I see why David Luiz gets a lot of criticism. He's probably too aggressive sometimes and gets tight to players. Is it the lack of leadership around him? Somebody to say, just drop off a bit? He needs an arm around him and he needs to feel the man. He had that at Chelsea and he's starting to look like he's getting that at Arsenal.

Aubameyang to stay at the Emirates? Does it depend on them winning this game?

  15. 'Aubameyang will be most important signing'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Ian Wright
Former Arsenal striker on BBC One

When you look at [Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's] goals to game ratio for Arsenal... When you look at Arsenal without him, they would be in a poor position. He is the focal point. He's the kind of player that when he gets that half chance, he is fantastic. He will be the most important signing that Arsenal make.

  17. 'Arsenal have a plan'published at 16:56 British Summer Time 1 August 2020

    Arsenal v Chelsea (17:30 BST)

    Ashley Cole
Former Chelsea and Arsenal defender on BBC One

Just having [Mikel Arteta's] ethos and his philosopy... You have started to see what he did under Pep Guardiola. I remember at times Arsenal fans were complaining players were running around without a plan. They have a plan now, they have an idea. They have turned into a better counter-attacking team with that front three but they still need to add a few players to complete the puzzle and get them back to where they were.

Arsenal's team coach pulled into Wembley greeted by around 20 interested observers, including one vocal Gunners fan with a large flag. It was as far as you could possibly get from the traditional FA Cup Final scene, where thousands usually throng around the stadium to await the teams.

Lots of games have had a strange feel about them since "Project Restart" but this may be the strangest yet. The domestic game's greatest occasion, with all the ceremonials, played out in front of an empty Wembley.

Willian and Kante not in the starting lineups is huge. With them, Chelsea by far the better team, now it's gonna be much closer. Arsenal can count their lucky stars
