  2. 'Guardiola's biggest test'published at 19:23 British Summer Time 7 August 2020

Man City v Real Madrid (2-1 agg, 20:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former Aston Villa & Man Utd striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tonight's game is Pep Guardiola's biggest test.

There's so many problems to think about and so many ways Real Madrid can win this game.

Pep is having to think about so much tonight because there is so much danger.

Guardiola - if there is anyone who can do it in a one-off game, to get it right - he's the man to do it.

The first game in this tie was a reminder of why the Champions League is so good.

Back in February, Manchester City produced a stunning late fightback as Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne scored in the final 12 minutes after Isco had given Real the lead.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was sent off, meaning he sits out tonight's game with a suspension.

Etihad Stadium will be virtually deserted for this Champions League quarter-final second leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid - but if the first two blasts from our visitors working for Spanish radio are anything to go by, it will still be an ear-splitting evening.

Man City v Real Madrid (2-1 agg, 20:00 BST)

That last game was a fascinating watch from a tactical point of view as Pep Guardiola caught many of us out by playing Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva as false nines and his actual number nine in Gabriel Jesus on the left wing.

It was a bold move but one that ultimately paid off. Will he get it right again tonight?

A lot of trust shown by Pep Guardiola in Phil Foden to put him in from the start for such a big game. Thoughts on that City XI? How do you see tonight going? And who do you fancy to win the Champions League in this new format?

    Juventus

Juventus make six changes from the team which was beaten by Roma in the final Serie A game of the season - they rested some big guns for that dead rubber though.

Cristiano Ronaldo is back to lead the line.

    Lyon

Lyon make just one change from the side which lost the French League Cup final on penalties - former Fulham and Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is benched. Shutting up shop?

    Juventus v Lyon (0-1 agg, 20:00 BST)

    Cristiano RonaldoImage source, Getty Images

It seems like a lifetime ago rather than a few months, but the first leg of this tie was played back in Feburary.

Lucas Tousart scored the only goal while Juve defender Matthijs de Ligt was off the pitch getting treatment for a head injury.

Maurizio Sarri's side failed to have a single shot on target but they will be looking to Cristiano Ronaldo to inspire another last-16 turnaround.

Last year, Juve trailed Atletico Madrid 2-0 after the first leg but Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to send the Italians through to the quarter-finals.

The challenge is not quite so mighty for Juve this time, but they will still need to be on it to have a chance of progressing to the last eight.

Man City v Real Madrid (2-1 agg, 20:00 BST)

Gareth Bale did not travel because, according to Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, he "preferred not to play".

"It was a personal conversation I had with him," said Zidane. "The rest remains between me and him but he said he didn't want to play."

BBC Sport understands Bale decided not to travel to Manchester because he knew he had no chance of being involved in the match.

What's Bale been doing instead? If reports are to be believed, external then playing golf, naturally...

Still waiting for the Manchester City team news but the Real Madrid team is out.

As we know, there is no Gareth Bale after he did not travel to Manchester. Eden Hazard, who was a doubt with an ankle injury, starts. Sergio Ramos is suspended after he was sent off in the first leg.

    Hello!

I won't lie, I was ready for a breather from football after the relentlessness of the games following the resumption of leagues but I'm genuinely excited by the return of the Champions League.

It's rare that the competition doesn't deliver and what a delightful feast of fixtures we have to welcome in its return.

Manchester City host Real Madrid looking to cement their passage into the quarter finals after winning the first leg 2-1 while Juventus host Lyon looking to overturn a 1-0 defeat.

Both games kick off at 20:00 BST.
