We are talking about the Champions League semi-final level. They are a side that know they are going to get limited chances and you have to take your opportunities.

I thought Neuer did exceptionally well to stay up for as long as he did against Depay. The hope Lyon would have is they have been written off consistently in this competition.

The Champions League has seen so many legends since the European Cup was rebranded in 1992-93.

But who do you think were the best XI?

A panel of BBC Sport journalists has picked a shortlist. The only criteria were that players had to have 60 or more Champions League appearances and to have played in at least one final.

The list will be discussed on a BBC Radio 5 Live show on Thursday night from 19:30 BST.

I wonder if we will see Moussa Dembele early in the second half for Lyon. There's no point keeping him on the bench until they go three nil down.

I just feel that Lyon have done okay. It is the final third and those early chances that let them down. They have created some really good opportunities and just haven't taken them.

So far so good for Bayern Munich. They are 45 minutes away from the Champions League final.

The problem with Lyon's formation is that narrow three in midfield. The longer this game goes on Bayern will really utilise those wide areas.

I'll be amazed if Serge Gnabry doesn't get a hat-trick tonight. He's been brilliant this half and tries his luck again from distance but his strike hits Robert Lewandowski.

Another booking as Fernando Marcal is shown a yellow card for a foul on Robert Lewandowski.

Still, Bayern can't switch off as Karl Toko Ekambi makes a good run to beat the offside trap. Manuel Neuer comes racing off his line but is caught in no man's land and is reliant on Jerome Boateng to step in and concede a corner.

That is a poor miss from Lewandowski. He did not commit to it.

Oooh, Lyon escape as Serge Gnabry's ball towards the far post is missed by Robert Lewandowski, who had a tap in.

Lewandowski is thinking thank goodness my team-mate was behind me.

Bayern are in the driving seat and could get two or three more if this carries on in the same way.

Marcelo is booked as he holds up Robert Lewandowski as the Bayern forward tries to make a run.

It looked early on that we might have a real game on here but at the moment Bayern look to be strolling into the final.

They just could not concede another goal Lyon and they have. It was really well worked and a great cross from Ivan Perisic. How Lewandowski misses from two yards out I don't know. It was the easiest of tasks for Gnabry.

It is a long way back for Lyon from this.

Bayern Munich are only the fourth team in Champions League history to reach 40 goals in a single campaign, along with Barcelona in 99-00 (45), Real Madrid in 13-14 (41) and Liverpool in 17-18 (41).

Bayern play a corner short before the ball is sent into the area. Robert Lewandowski gets inbetween two defenders but cushions a header over the bar.

Joshua Kimmich is clipped on the right and Bayern Munich have a free kick. It is played back rather than into the area before David Alaba tries to play in Serge Gnabry but the winger can't control the awkward high ball. It is all Bayern now.
