  1. Koeman plans to speak to Messipublished at 19:45 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

Earlier today Ronald Koeman was named Barcelona boss.

The Spanish giants acted quickly to make changes after their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich, naming the Dutchman as Quique Setien's successor.

One of the biggest tasks for Koeman will be sorting out Lionel Messi's future.

"He's still got a contract and is still a Barcelona player," he said. "At this point I need to speak to him because he is the captain.

"We need to work with him and speak with various players. We need to make some decisions but in Messi's case I hope he stays with us."

  2. Bayern will 'take some beating'published at 19:44 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

Lyon v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Bayern are very switched on in the way they do their business recruiting the best players from the Bundesliga. They got Joshua Kimmich for seven million euros, they got Leon Goretzka on a free.

They are a formidable outfit. It is a team full of big egos but they work so hard for each other. They wanted to pummel Barcelona.

They did not feel sorry for them, they wanted to humiliate them, which is why for me they were favourites before the last round. They are going to take some beating.

  4. Dembele to do it again?published at 19:39 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

Moussa Dembele was the Lyon hero against Manchester City as he scored twice after coming on as a substitute for the final 15 minutes.

He does, however, have to make do with a place on the bench tonight.

    Super sub again?

Manchester United in my opinion was too big for Memphis Depay at that time. If you look at him now it would be a different kettle of fish.

He has changed, he likes the pressure now. His body language has changed and he seems more confident.

  6. 'Everyone thought he was Flash Harry'published at 19:33 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

Lyon v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Memphis Depay was a laughing stock at Manchester United. Everyone thought he was a Flash Harry. There were big expectations and he did not perform on the pitch.

From what I have seen from him at Lyon, he really plays with a purpose and has grown up. He has had a big season and they are so much stronger and more potent with him in the team.

  7. Lewandowski to keep run going?published at 19:30 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

Lyon v Bayern Munich (20:00 BST)

Robert Lewandowski has scored in eight consecutive Champions League appearances for Bayern Munich - only Ruud van Nistelrooy in 2003 (9) and Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 (11) have scored in more successive matches in the competition's history.

Indeed, only Ronaldo (17 in 13/14, 16 in 15/16 & 15 in 17/18) has scored more goals in a single Champions League season than Lewandowski this campaign (14).

  8. 'We have to be on the front foot from the first minute'published at 19:28 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

    Lyon v Bayern (20:00 BST)

Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry: “They are a very strong side. I don’t think it will be an easy game. They have beaten Juventus, they have beaten Manchester City, who I think were both the favourites (to win those games).

"It looks like we are the favourites now so we have be careful not to let them beat us.

“We know they are very strong on counter attacks, they are good defensively so we have to be on the front foot from the first minute and try to play a good game."

So is there any insider information that Bayern's former Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso can pass on...?

“It is not like I have asked him," Gnabry added.

"He told us they are a very good team. He has been at Lyon a very long time. I’m sure he can give the coach some advice about the players he knows.”

Houssem Aouar wasn't the only player featuring in tonight's game that played a part in that game a decade ago.

Bayern midfielder Corentin Tolisso, on the bench tonight, was part of the Lyon academy in 2010 and was a ballboy in that semi-final.

"Bayern won the game 3-0 to breeze into the final, and Tolisso said: "I was really disappointed, I remember that. It made an impression on me.

"Ten years have passed and now I’m in the other camp, with Bayern. I hope we see the same outcome."

This is nice from Lyon's Houssem Aouar.

The 22-year-old midfielder says that 10 years ago he was one of the kids who held the Champions League logo on the centre circle for the semi final between Bayern Munich and Lyon.

Ten years later, he's playing in the same fixture.

  11. Are we seeing a 'new' Neymar?published at 19:16 British Summer Time 19 August 2020

We are used to seeing Neymar do impressive things on a football pitch, and he was at it again on Tuesday with an outrageous assist as part of a stellar showing as Paris St-Germain beat RB Leipzig to secure their place in the Champions League final.

But it was his attitude - something that has often drawn criticism - that most impressed the pundits observing the game in Lisbon.

Are we witnessing the arrival of a "new" Neymar? Have your say in our vote at the bottom of this page here. The vote closes at 19:30 BST, so best hurry!

Lyon had a gameplan against Manchester City and Juventus.

Against City they were dismissed as a team that could not compete. Nothing could have been further from the truth. They have a way of playing with three at the back and they have great mobility and pace in the wide area.

Memphis Depay has shown great leadership qualities and then they have Karl Toko Ekambi who played exceptionally well against Juventus.

Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick wants his side to forget their 8-2 demolition of Barcelona and "start from scratch" tonight.

"Less than 100% will not be enough," he said.

"The game starts from scratch. My team is focused. We have set big goals.

"But it is a game starting at 0-0 and we have to play with the same intensity as against Barca."

Two teams with their eyes on the biggest prize in club football.

One, a dominant swashbuckling force that scores goals for fun and possesses one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.

The other, the ultimate underdog - sweeping aside heavyweights Juventus and Manchester City to put themselves within one win of the Champions League final.

The tournament has delivered and then some since football's restart and this tie has the potential to be another Champions League thriller.
