    FT: Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

That's all for this evening. Thanks very much for joining us. It wasn't quite the match we hoped for but congratulations go to Hibs for making it three wins in a row to match the Hibs record of 1974. United, in their first season back in the Premiership, will have better days at Tannadice. Look out for the highlights on Sportscene on BBC One Scotland at 22:45 BST and online at midnight. Goodnight.

  2. Mellon frustrated by narrow defeatpublished at 20:40 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    FT: Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon: "The emotion is one of frustration, that one little moment goes against us. When you consider that we've stepped up a level, we more than held our own and that we've got good players here. It's tight, it's tense, it's early in the season, you have to feel your way into the game, when we went into the final third we could have been more imaginative. But for a bounce here or there, which sometimes you get when you play in these tight games, we could have found ourselves getting something from the game. It's fine margins between the teams.

"Jamie Robson took a sore one and he will be well looked after. What did he get booked for? Did he try to knock himself out? He'll be OK."

  3. Hibs can't accept an away pointpublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    FT: Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Hibs manager Jack Ross: "We have ambitions within the training ground that we want to try to achieve. We can't come away from home and accept a point or whatever it may be. It is very early. We need to recognise what we're doing well and keep doing that."

  4. Allan helped us gain control - Rosspublished at 20:33 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    FT: Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Hibs manager Jack Ross: "My thinking was to get Scott [Allan] on early in the second half and it helped us gain control of the game and in that period we got the goal. I'm delighted with the players' ability to do so and their willingness to do so. Christian Doidge is a brilliant boy to work with him. When you work with him day in, day out, you appreciate how good a player he is."

  5. Robson booking 'ridiculous'published at 20:24 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    FT: Dundee Utd 0-1 Hibernian

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon told Sky Sports: "Frustrating. It was a game of very few chances.

"It's a step up for us. At times tonight we looked a decent side. We were well in a game that was very, very tight.

"Jamie Robson's taken a bit of a head knock. How did he get booked for that? Ridiculous."

    FT Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

In the meantime, a reminder that there are only three Premiership games on tomorrow evening after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon insisted the games involving Celtic and Aberdeen should be postponed in light of Covid-19 protocol breaches.

The games that go ahead, all with 19:45 BST kick-offs, are:

    • Motherwell v Livingston
    • Rangers v St Johnstone
    • Ross County v Kilmarnock

    FT: Dundee Utd 0-1 Hibernian

"We had more control in the second half. We'd like to have still used the ball better.

The final score leaves Dundee United with the full set of results after three games - one win, one loss and one defeat. Micky Mellon's team remain fifth in the table, five points adrift of Hibs. The new boss at Tannadice has much to ponder after that game, especially regarding his team's inability to create chances.

The game lacked the quality we were expecting. Hibs now have three victories in three very different games. It proves another side to the team Jack Ross has

  12. FULL-TIME Dundee United 0-1 Hibernianpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

I wonder if the Hibs team that won three in a row in 1974 did so with a touch of elan? We can't say the same for Hibs' performance at Tannadice but they got the job done thanks to Christian Doidge's 65th-minute smashed finish. Ofir Marciano had not a single save to make in the Hibs goal so their defence deserves praise. Nine points from nine for Jack Ross's team.

Hibs have defended well in these last few minutes. They've managed the game really well too

  14. Match petering out for Unitedpublished at 19:56 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

It's just not falling for United. Mark Connolly lobs the ball up towards the Hibs goal but one bounce, two and it's into the arms of Ofir Marciano. He's in no hurry to release it, as you can imagine.

  15. ADDED TIMEpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

We have four minutes of added time. Can United fashion an equaliser or are Hibs going to be three points clear of Rangers and Ross County at the top of the table?

  16. Hibs close to matching 46-year-old recordpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Three minutes to go. Hibs are so close to winning their opening three games in the top flight for the first time since 1974, when the team was managed by Eddie Turnbull.

I was expecting the offside flag to go up, but it never came. It's a good opportunity for Peter Pawlett, it goes begging again for Dundee United

  18. Pawlett spurns chancepublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Ohhhh!! That might be United's best chance. Peter Pawlett gets into the Hibs box and is played in with the ball dropping at just the right height to volley home from 10 yards. However, he slices it wide and holds his head as the horror sinks in.

  19. Butcher pushes for levellerpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 11 August 2020

    Dundee United 0-1 Hibernian

Calum Butcher lashes a shot at goal from 25 yards but the sting is taken out of it by Alex Gogic who, despite wearying legs, shows tremendous desire to close him down to concede a corner. Ryan Connolly heads wide of the target as the corner swings in, under pressure from Hibs striker Christian Doidge.
