Mark Reynolds hauls down Kevin Nisbet a yard outside the United box having been nutmegged by the Hibs striker just short of the goalline. Nice skill by Nisbet but wily Reynolds knew when to tug his arm to halt the attack.

Nicky Clark is given the honours for United's next free-kick, which this time is more central but about 28 yards from the target. The striker shows his frustration as he curls an effort a couple of feet over the Hibs crossbar. Hmm, this is disappointing. So many free-kicks, so many stoppages.

Nicky Clark resembled his father Sandy there, the way he rose to flick on the high ball. The United striker wasn't supported, though, and Ofir Marciano gets a rare touch of the ball as he scoops it up. Moments later United win a free-kick 22 yards out - Clark's effort is diverted over the bar by Josh Doig.

Hibs' final ball has indeed been disappointing but the United defence is well organised, with skipper Mark Reynolds ably assisted by Mark Connolly and Ryan Edwards, the latter making his debut.

Credit to Hibs for continuing to attack, albeit with zero return so far. Christian Doidge does really well to chest the ball down at the edge of the box to continue the move. The ball is played out to Josh Doig on the left side of the box but his shot is blocked at close range.

Hibs move the ball about from left to right and back again, trying to move the United defence out of position. However, when Josh Doig crosses for Daryl Horgan, the ball bounces on to his shoulder and United seize upon the poor control to break at pace. Enter Hibs' midfield enforcer Alex Gogic to scythe down the unfortunate Nicky Clark and earn himself a booking.

Joe Newell is booked by Don Robertson for a petulant, lazy foul on Nicky Clark as he raced clear of him in the centre circle. No complaints from the Hibs midfielder.

Josh Doig makes a bold move down the left flank for Hibs, cuts inside on to his right foot and thunders a shot at the United goal but the 18-year-old's effort is well wide of the target.

With a third of the first half gone, it's been a bit stop-start with fouls and injuries interrupting the flow. Unfortunately, there have been no goal chances to bring you, but there must surely be goals in this game. Surely.

Hibs forward Martin Boyle works his way in from the right touchline and falls to the turf. The referee views it as a foul when it looked like he merely tripped himself up. From the ensuing free-kick Joe Newell swings in the ball but it's easy peasy for Swiss keeper Benjamin Siegrist to collect.

United's Jamie Robson is booked as he walks off gingerly to be subbed for Adrian Sporle. He really flew into that aerial challenge. Paul McGinn continues and thankfully both players look like they will be OK.
