Odsonne Edouard is receiving treatment after a sore challenge by Mark Connolly. The United defender comes over to apologise to the big French striker, who gets to his feet but now has a painful ankle.

From a corner for the visitors Celtic captain Scott Brown appeals to referee Andrew Dallas as he is penalised for blocking a defensive run by Mark Connolly just inside the penalty box. Next, Olivier Ntcham is heavy with a touch and ruins a good chance for Celtic. At the other end of the pitch, Ian Harkes makes ground and feeds Luke Bolton but the United winger blasts his shot over the Celtic bar.

Celtic's Nir Bitton tries to head Ryan Christie's in-swinging free-kick from the right but it hits his shoulder and drifts over the crossbar.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard explains his line-up for today's victory against Kilmarnock and says he only wants players that are "hungry" in his team.

Gerrard on Sky Sports: "I'm going to pick the players that are hungry, that want to be here and the ones that train ever so hard every day.

"We pick on what we see on a daily basis. If there are players that are hungry, that want to be here, that want to give everything for the shirt, they play

"If people lose their focus and take their eye off the ball, unfortunately they won't be with us. That goes for everyone."

Nir Bitton and Callum McGregor combine to halt Nicky Clark as he runs through the centre circle. Thankfully all three players emerge from the pile-up but Bitton can count himself lucky not to have been booked by Andrew Dallas - the Israeli slid in rather recklessly.

Celtic have speed in their team with Greg Taylor scampering up the left and cutting inside for Callum McGregor who plays it to the right for Ryan Christie who has Jeremie Frimpong on the overlap. Both Celtic full-backs are getting deep into the United half.

Displaying beautiful technique, Odsonne Edouard shifts his body over the ball to keep down a volley with his right foot. He looks on as his shot from 18 yards clips the outside of Benjamin Siegrist's left-hand post.

Mark Connolly thunders into Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, presenting Ryan Christie with a free-kick some 30 yards from goal. The Celtic forward smacks it into the tangerine wall, though. He can do much better.

Dundee United midfielder Peter Pawlett gets goalside of Jeremie Frimpong but when you have pace like the Celtic full-back it can get you out of bother and that's just what happened there. Frimpong is rapid.

Mark Connolly is put under pressure by goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist's distribution out to the right-back area. Mohamed Elyounoussi forces the United defender into an error. The game has yet to settle. It's lively.

Peter Pawlett delivers from the right wing for Dundee United and had it not been for the very long leg of Christopher Jullien knocking the cross over the Celtic bar, United might have taken an early lead. Just as well Jullien was alert in the first minute.

United get us going on Tayside.

Here come the teams at Tannadice... The stadium would have been packed in normal times, you'd think.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon: "You pick a team that you think will win the game. Olivier [Ntcham] has been training very well and I think he deserves a chance to start. [On Rangers winning] We're here to win the game. We can't control what other teams do. We're expecting the game to be played at a good tempo."

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon: "We'll go out there and give it a right good go. It's little baby steps. I know Neil [Lennon] very well. I'll look forward to going toe to toe today. [On Lawrence Shankland] He is improving day to day. The injury is just something that has come on but he's making progress."
