    Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

They've worked so hard in this game Crystal Palace, they've been so organised.

Southampton have had a lot of the ball, they've not been too dangerous, but Palace have had to stay alert and in their shape.

They will have worked a lot over the close season to get this right and these are the moments when they rely on their shape and what they know.

They decide that Wilfried Zaha was indeed offside. What do we think of that rule? It's already divided opinion within BBC Sport.

  8. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 12 September 2020

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Southampton

Well that is a bit ridiculous. We mentioned earlier that the plan now is to not put an offside flag up, let people go on and shoot and then check it with VAR if needs be.

Wilfried Zaha is allowed to run in on goal and score, and then the flag is raised.

The game has started to change because Southampton have got back into the game.

It was a massive decision from the referee overturning the red card. We spoke before about VAR and the importance of that rule change and the referee getting the whistle back and being accountable for their decisions.

They way Crystal Palace are doing this - it's all so condensed.

The two centre-halves have been immense so far and Cheikhou Kouyate, who isn't a central-defender naturally, has been incredible today.

    Liverpool

It's a very recognisable Liverpool side to open their title defence, the usual front three and Jordan Henderson in midfield. Jurgen Klopp leaves former Leeds man James Milner on the bench.

Leeds don't start with record signing Rodrigo so Patrick Bamford leads the line.

Given that one of his former players once told me that Roy Hodgson is obsessed all season with his team being on 0 for goal difference he definitely doesn't like an open game.

Good ball in from Jeff Schlupp as Palace attack but it's hacked away.
