Arsenal's shape on the ball is interesting, if I didn't know better I'd say Mikel Arteta was a Chris Wilder fan. I mean, who isn't?

    Fulham 0-1 Arsenal

Fulham's commitment to playing out from the back is absolute which is either admirable or stupid, depending on your point of view. When your keeper is passing it backwards and he's only three yards off his line you've got to be inviting pressure and that's what happens, Arsenal press high and win it back within shooting distance.

Mo Elneny has one blocked and then Granit Xhaka spoons one over the bar. Fulham playing with fire there.

Sad to see him go until you see Ziyech, Havertz, Pulisic and Werner?

David Ljunggren: Ream was nowhere near good enough the last time Fulham were in the Premiership and what a surprise, his error leads to the first goal. Can’t believe he is anywhere near the first team.

CM: Bit disappointed by that Arsenal goal, I was in the middle of writing up some really stinging criticism of them. I'll save it as a draft. Still plenty of time to use it.

    Fulham 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal are looking slick. Bellerin and Maitland-Niles tuck in a bit when they have possession and they overwhelm Fulham's midfield. Kieran Tierney then gets up on the overlap, stretching the play every which way.

Alexandre Lacazette has become the first player to score the very first goal of two Premier League seasons (also 2017-18).

They're playing some really good stuff, Fulham, with some quick one and two-touch passing and playing triangles around Arsenal - yet they're one down.

You have to find a way of finishing off the good play.

    Fulham 0-1 Arsenal

Neat and tidy in midifeld from Ainsley Maitland-Niles to get Arsenal going again, that goal may have knocked the stuffing from Fulham.

The opening Premier League goal of the season has come in the first 10 minutes in each of the past four seasons. Alexandre Lacazette scored in the second minute in 2017-18.

    Ah, sleepy? Arsenal lead!

Fulham in a nutshell, you fear. A brightish start, plenty of possession and then they concede a horrendous goal.

A ball over the top should be cleared but isn't, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang puts it in from the left, Granit Xhaka scuffs a shot which pinballs about, Tim Ream kicks fresh London air and then could have conceded a penalty with a pull on Willian.

Marek Rodak makes a decent save but the ball rolls to Alexandre Lacazette who can tap in the first of the season!

    Fulham 0-0 Arsenal

Mesut Ozil is not in the Arsenal squad today, of course.

Here come Fulham, tidy stuff and it does end in a shot on goal, right-back Denis Odoi cutting on to his left foot and hitting a decent shot straight at Bernd Leno.

    Arsenal have been sleepy.

Michal Koziol: Finally the Prem is BACK!!! It's been so long without football! It's gonna be so interesting if Arsenal can actually realise any of their attacking potential of which they have plenty - Auba, Laca, Pepe, Willian... Even Ozil if they finally use him!

    Fulham 0-0 Arsenal

Fulham have settled well and are playing their trademark crisp passing through, or rather across, midfield.

Will they have any cutting edge though?

    Fulham 0-0 Arsenal

What was that about Arsenal looking solid at the back? A shocking backpass from I think Ainsley Maitland-Niles plays Aboubakar Kamara in on goal, he's clean through and Bernd Leno has to make an excellent save/challenge.

    Dearie me!
