Arsenal looked impressive [after moving to three in defence].

It looks like Mikel Arteta has a formula that works for his players and they look comfortable doing it.

They look soild and tough to beat, which are words we haven't often used about Arsenal for a while now - and that's why he's sticking with it.

Deep State: Gabriel will score today on his debut

Paul: As an arsenal fan I'm glad mitrovic is on bench. sort of. He's good in the air and physical and it's well known our defence usually struggle. I'd be a lot more worried if he had started. That said, I needed him playing for my bet

Neil Moriarty: Here we go, me and every other Gooner thinking we know a better line up than Arteta, as we did Wenger and Emery before him....

On starting Gabriel: "Everyone says we have a lot of centre-backs. But we have a lot of issues in recent weeks. He needs to start today. He's been preparing really well. Hopefully he will be fine."

On Willian: "We play slightly differently to Chelsea. He’s a tremendous player, high quality, knows the league really well, so hopefully he can start performing today."

You can imagine what it would have been like for the fans of these [promoted] clubs. Playing at Elland Road, Fulham and West Brom - they'll miss the fans there.

As a player, you feed off what the fans are giving you from the touchline and the terraces and they're not going to have that.

There's no doubt about it that the smaller clubs will be at a bit of disadvantage at home.

It took Liverpool 30 long, painful years to win a 19th top-flight league title. They now face a tough eight-month examination to see if they can defend it.

There are a number of reasons why the Reds' attempt to win back-to-back Premier League crowns is fraught with difficulty.

    BBC Sport picks through them.

  14. Anyone can win it!published at 12:07 British Summer Time 12 September 2020

    Not really.

BUT this Premier League season features 15 clubs who have been top flight champions, the highest number of former champions in a top flight season since 1969-70 (also 15).

The top flight record is 16 former champions in 1954-55 and 1955-56.

Gabriel and Willian are the 10th and 11th Brazilians to appear in the Premier League for Arsenal - only Chelsea and Manchester City (both 12) have had more Brazilian players in the competition.
