Dani Ceballos and Eddie Nketiah are on the Arsenal bench this afternoon and they had a bit of a pre-match scuffle after a bad challenge in a warm-up.

Lord Meltdown: glimpses of Arsenal season intentions, definitely got away with early misunderstanding. I predicted 1 - 3 as an Arsenal fan, fingers crossed its half time

Eamonn McGurk: Whether at CB or LB Kieran Tierney looks an absolute baller!

FI BinBagJez: I think people are exaggerating Fulham's scoring last time in the league. Yes we know their defense was terrible, but they also only scored 34 goals! This is why they will go down again this season, nice pretty passing but no incision

Sho: Early days I know but how is this Fulham side gonna score goals?

Crystal Palace v Southampton (15:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

There's always an element of risk suggesting any team with Roy Hodgson in charge will go down - but they had a dreadful end to last season and could yet lose their most influential player Wilfried Zaha.

This is one where the crystal ball may be a bit cloudy but Hodgson needs a good start.

If Zaha survives the transfer window cut again then a higher finish is very possible but just feel a little concern in my bones for Palace.

I'm an arsenal fan and already fed up with my fellow gooners. Not even half time and they have started moaning. Thank god fans are not allowed in because it's just always negative. Keep them away from the Emirates for as long as we can.

    Sev

Arsenal fan here, feeling cautiously optimistic about the new season. Main thing is whether we've got the backbone and ability to grind out results, which we never had under Emery and lost a long time ago under Arsene. COYG!

    Ben

I know it's only been about 5 minutes since the last season finished but god I've missed the Premier League.

Josh Verrills: Arsenal managing to sign Willian on a free transfer has to be the best free transfer any PL club has done for several seasons

As a Chelsea fan will always have respect for Willian BUT ! Probably one of the most inconsistent and infuriating players ever. His goals and assist ratio is very poor. And he rarely scores from open play.

Oooohhh! Ainsley Maitland-Niles has all sorts of space on the left and puts in a dangerous cross which Alexandre Lacazette is lining up for a header - but just misses out.

I've got so much faith in Arteta that he could bench any player bar Aubameyang and I'd have total faith in his selection

    Maxwell, london

Am I the only person who doesn't understand why Aubameyang hasn't signed yet? What if he picks up a serious injury? You'd think a commited player would want everything done and dusted before the first game of the season

Arsenal with their first sight of goal for a while, the ball is moved sharply and unsettles the Fulham defence, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang rattling in a shot which Marrek Rodak beats clear.

'That's the new directive on offside flag usage!' squaks Jonathan Pearce as Tim Ream clears a dangerous cross and then the flag goes up.

Apparently they won't put flags up until the end of a move now. Who knows why that's progress.

Ryan Manaton: I'm backing Willian to get in double figures for goals and assists this season

Paul: Not quite sure I get Fulham. They're putting crosses in a few times already yet have their best and most prolific striker who's got decent aerial ability sat on the bench

More eye-catching approach play as Fulham play through the middle third but now, can they test Arsenal?

Denis Odoi puts in a gem of a cross, a real beauty, but there's nobody in white there to tap it in and the referee gives a foul anway. Encouraging though.

Unlucky! So nearly a debut goal for Willian, who spends an age lining up the free-kick and whips it against the base of the post.

David Huggan: I've always been a fan of Willian. I think he will make a huge difference at Arsenal

Owen: The Arsenal defence is demonstrating just why I thought Mitrovic was a decent punt in my #FPL, external team, but apparently Parker thought differently.

Jonnets: Arsenal started the day top of the table and I don't think that's going to change
