  2. Coleraine shock win ensures Well seedingpublished at 22:32 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

Aberdeen recorded the evening's biggest victory in the Europa League first qualifying round.

Those two late results have come in and it is a great night for Coleraine, the Northern Irish side causing a shock by beating Maribor on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Slovenia.

That is also good news for Motherwell, who will now join Aberdeen and Rangers as seeded teams in Monday's draw.

Shamrock Rovers, meanwhile, survived a mammoth shoot-out to beat Ilves of Finland 12-11 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Aberdeen 6-0 NSI Runavik (Faroe Islands)

Fehervar (Hungary) 1-1 Bohemians (4-2 on pen)

  3. 'Aberdeen Eight' have been punished - McInnespublished at 22:25 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

    FT: Aberdeen 6-0 NSI Runavik

Ahead of tomorrow's Scottish FA's hearing into the behaviour of the Premiership players who broke Covid-19 rules, Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says that his players have already been sufficiently punished.

"My players were guilty of nothing other than naivety," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"There was nobody going out there and thinking they were above the rules.

"My players have been punished, my players have clearly been punished - publicly humiliated by far too many people making comment on them, having their say and not letting it go.

“They've been fined by the club. We'll take what comes.

"The boys have made a mistake. The whole country, not just my players, have been making mistakes left, right and centre."

Harry Robinson (right) was a late substitute

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson had thrown on son Harry in the final minutes only for the 19-year-old midfielder to concede the penalty that handed Glentoran a consolation goal.

"I think it was Harry who gave the penalty away, wasn't it?" he tells BBC Radio Scotland. "He'll be getting it tonight.

"I actually thought he did well when he came on, put crosses into the box, which he does.

"We wanted the clean sheet, I wanted more goals, but in the overall picture it was a good to get that first win."

  5. A reminder that we have good players here - McInnespublished at 22:09 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is very pleased with his side's performance.

"I enjoyed watching my team, seeing how hard they worked, the intensity from us," McInnes tells BBC Sportsound

"I think the players enjoyed the game - it's a wee reminder of how good they are.

"Ryan Hedges came on at half-time - hat-trick, brilliant from him. In the three games he's been involved, he has four goals and an assist. Dylan McGeouch ran the game, Lewis Ferguson was influential once again. The clean sheet - we were very solid at the back.

"What pleased me more than anything was the professionalism, the effort, the work rate of the team to not let the opponent play their natural game. It all played out quite nicely for us."

  6. Quality shone through - Robinsonpublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

    FT: Motherwell 5-1 Glentoran

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson was pleased and relieved in equal measure but thought Glentoran could have had a man sent off before they did.

"It is a banana skin when you play a team like Glentoran - everyone's waiting for you to fail," he tells BBC Radio Scotland.

"It's a great response to that. Glentoran put up a decent fight, as we expected. They fought hard, total respect for them, but I think our quality shone through.

"I think they were lucky to only go down to 10 men with the tackle on Ricki Lamie.

"Some of the football and quality of the goals was good - all the strikers scored, which is good for confidence going into Sunday's game."

Derek McInnes is the right man to take the club forward. With Hedges, Hayes, Kennedy, Wright, McGinn - it's exciting. I think you can look forward to seeing Aberdeen better in the opposition half than they were last season

  8. Two games in extra-timepublished at 21:56 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

The two Scottish clubs will be joined in Monday's draw by The New Saints, who caused a bit of shock by beating Slovakian side Zilina in Wales.

The principality made it two in the draw with Bala Town's 1-0 win away to Valletta in Malta.

Irish side Bohemians were edged out in Hungary on penalties by Fehervar.

Meanwhile, Coleraine have taken Maribor into exta time, with the score at 1-1 in Slovenia, while Shamrock Rovers are also drawing, 2-2 at home to Ilves of Finland.

Callum Lang got the ball rolling for Motherwell

Motherwell flirted with disaster before easing into the Europa League second qualifying round.

Glentoran did themselves proud, had their fair share of the chances until the complexion of the game changed after Seanan Clucas was sent off for a second yellow card after the break.

The 10-men were still a threat until Callum Lang scored the first of five goals that ease Stephen Robinson's side through to the next round with their first win in seven games stretching into last season.

  13. FULL-TIME Aberdeen 6-0 NSI Runavikpublished at 21:36 British Summer Time 27 August 2020

I bet you enjoyed that, Aberdeen fans?

The first 36 minutes were a bit laboured even though the hosts were on top, but as soon as Lewis Ferguson headed home the first, there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Curtis Main added a second before being replaced by Ryan Hedges at half-time, who subsequently scored a hat-trick. Jonny Hayes' screamer from the edge of the box was the pick of the bunch, for me.

The second qualifying round of the Europa League awaits.
