    Breaking

    Motherwell v Glentoran (19:45)

Motherwell have yet to record a win this season, but one bright light among the gloom was the form of David Turnbull as the cultured midfielder made an impressive return after almost a season lost through injury.

However, Well face Glentoran without their playmaker after the Scotland Under-21 international completed a transfer to Celtic this morning. The £3.25m fee will obviously be welcome to the Fir Park coffers, but his immediate absence at a crucial time will not.

Celtic sign David Turnbull from Motherwell in a deal that could be worth £3.25m - 14 months after a previous move for the player collapsed.

Motherwell and Aberdeen start favourites in their ties

Scottish football remains shaken by Celtic's surprise exit from the Champions League last night at home to Ferencvaros.

With opponents from Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands, Aberdeen and Motherwell enter the Europa League fray tonight against teams of a lesser standing than the Hungarian champions but will be wary of suffering similar blow to their nation's coefficient.

Indeed, Glentoran arrive at Fir Park and NSI Runavik at Pittodrie feeling good about themselves having already negotiated preliminary round ties.

Stay with us for the build-up, live coverage and post-match reaction from those two first qualifying-round ties and any major news from elsewhere, both online and on BBC Radio Scotland 810MW and digital.
