    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

No movement, no attacking cohesion, jittery at the back, second to every ball.

Apart from that, it's been OK from United.

Fascinating game so far between two limited mid-table teams. Seagulls definitely on top so far.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 30 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

Brighton hit the woodwork for the third time in the contest.

This time United fail to deal with a free-kick and the ball is recycled into the box, allowing Adam Webster to loop a header onto the crossbar.

David de Gea looked slow to react there, didn't get his feet moving at all.

Almost half an hour gone, United might wake up soon.

Leandro Trossard hit the post with that second effort?

It looked like it went straight wide to me.

Leandro Trossard is the first player to the hit the woodwork twice in a single Premier League game since Danny Ings in January against Leicester.

Manchester United look apathetic. Absolutely no passion or drive to score.

Why is it that when Fergie was in charge all players gave their everything in every game. Why has that philosophy gone since he left? I have supported Utd all my life and always will, but something needs to happen to bring that United team spirit back.

Quiz to United fans, name one player in this squad who is better than the player in his position in the 1999 or 2008 squads? This is the worst coach and the worst group of players I have ever seen United have. Amazing how Woodward is not sacked.

That's twice Leandro Trossard has got in that position and had a good sight of the Manchester United goal.

United midfielder Bruno Fernandes into the book after mis-controlling the ball and lunging in on Neal Maupay.

  11. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

Brighton are causing United plenty of issues when they break into that final third.

It is Leandro Tossard again, the sprightly Belgian spinning and drilling a low shot just wide of the post.

United goalkeeper David de Gea not happy at his defenders there, who failed to close the Brighton man down.

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

At the other end, a lovely delivery from Bruno Fernandes in towards Anthony Martial inside the six yard box, but the ball beats all the players and the post too.

    It had Mat Ryan worried.

  13. CLOSE!published at 18 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

This could have gone in and Victor Lindelof will have wanted the ground to swallow him up.

Solly March gets down the left and puts a low cross in, Lindelof gets in an awkward position and ends up back heeling a clearance which goes goalwards, but David de Gea collects.

    Phew.

  14. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

But Brighton youngster Tariq Lamptey gives the ball away deep in his own half.

It is give to Mason Greenwood who has a run in on goal, but drags his shot well wide from the angle.

Not often you see that from Greenwood, usually just a clean striker of the ball.

Michael Reid: Almost 10 minutes in and what a slow start to this game it's been from United; and this is apparently the best XI! Might be a long season!

  16. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

Brighton are finding it so easy to get through the United lines.

Now we do see Tariq Lamptey make a dart forward and the full-back is tripped by Nemanja Matic.

  18. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 9 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

Oof, great strike and almost the opener.

Belgium international Leandro Trossard gets the ball at his feet on the edge of the box.

He traps the ball and in one movement swings a left peg at the ball which rattles the post.

David de Gea was well beaten.

For Solskjaer to say United 'weren't ready' last week is just an excuse. The attitude was poor from the United players - and Crystal Palace took full advantage of that. They played a great match. Interested to see which United team show up today.
