Joelinton and Miguel Almiron are going to have to hold up the ball and Callum Wilson will have to buy some free-kicks if Newcastle are going to get themselves some breathing space here.
But they are playing so deep that when Newcastle get the ball there is no-one to hit.

David Ljunggren: Errrr Newcastle defenders? Don’t just stand there watching Darlow pull off save after save. Do something!

A Spurs corner is won in the air by Harry Kane, no Newcastle defender gets near it and Karl Darlow has to react again to nick the ball off the foot of Davinson Sanchez.

BBC Radio 5 Live summariser Clinton Morrison says Newcastle have not started yet and cannot continue like this all afternoon.
The possession stats do seem to back him up.

"To Dare Is To Do".
What does that mean?

Haha, another superb stop.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg picks out Harry Kane in the area with a perfect cross, you would put all your money on Harry Kane finding the back of the net from there, but the England striker's header is kept out by Karl Darlow's sharp shot.

Mark: This fixture last year was a shambles and the Newcastle win was clear from the start. Today can't be as bad surely!
David Faulkner: Don't forget the Paul Gascoigne derby. We'll draw a line under the Sebastien Bassong derby, though.

That is a magnificent double save from Karl Darlow. You expect Harry Kane to score from that angle when he is six yards out so really good goalkeeping.
Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle
It's a Sunday for brilliant goalkeeping.
Karl Darlow makes a superb flying stop to deny Giovani Lo Celso's free-kick, but the second one is even better, reacting sharply to keep out Harry Kane's close range follow-up.
Tottenham 0-0 Newcastle
Spurs have a free-kick on the edge of the box as the ref spots Jonjo Shelvey's off the ball tug on Giovani Lo Celso.

The partnership Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min produced at Southampton last week was outstanding, but Callum Wilson is a threat. He missed a golden opportunity last week.
That's where it could be won and lost. If Wilson and Joelinton link up well it could be Newcastle's day but if Kane and Son can reproduce what they did last weekend then it is likely to be a Tottenham victory.

Newcastle United
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce on recalling Joelinton and Miguel Almiron to Sky Sports: "They played very well in midweek [a 7-0 Carabao Cup win over Morecambe]. They grasped their opportunity with their peformances in midweek. With injuries too it was easy to put them in the team.
"We got off to an awful start [in last weekend's 3-0 defeat by Brighton]. When you're 2-0 down after five minutes it turns into an awful afternoon. We have to start well. The response in midweek was excellent."

I think Tottenham fans should get ready to say goodbye to Dele Alli now. Jose Mourinho has a habit of doing this at clubs. He falls out with a player, decides he doesn't fancy them.
I think if you have seen the Amazon documentary (All or Nothing), there was tension there from the start. In the first training session he was calling Dele a lazy trainer.
I think he has tried to do a little bit of motivation, he has tried the arm around the shoulder, but something has gone wrong. He's been leaving him out of the squad for a reason.
I don't see that relationship being repaired now. Jose has obviously made up his mind and when Jose does that it is game over for the player, unfortunately.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho on making one change from last weekend to Sky Sports: "We play almost every day, we need to rotate players.
"You're comparing our team against Southampton but we had a Europa League game two days ago - and we have another game in two days. We need to change our players. Tanguy Ndombele managed his first 90 minutes the other day so can't do it agin."
On whether Sergio Reguilon is match fit: "I would say so-so. He had 90 minutes with Spain, then was injured so had to stop his pre-season process. Does he have to play during the week? Of course he does. Ben Davies can't play 90 minutes in every game."

Jose Mourinho goes into a club and sort of picks a high profile player to have a falling out with.
Luke Shaw was the one he kept on criticising at Manchester United, but the difference was that he was able to keep on playing.
Dele Alli has not been able to play at all. For him, personally, it will be very disappointing.
Everyone has their critics and as a player you want to be able to go out and prove them wrong.
At the minute he is definitely not in Jose's thoughts and must be looking for a way out.
