Nathan McGinley makes his return from injury at wing-back, having not played since the opening day against Ross County, while Callum Lang replaces Christopher Long up front.

  2. Saints sought 'compassion' from SPFL over keeper crisispublished at 14:26

    St Mirren v Hibernian (15:00)

"It's been a very stressful 24 hours, without a doubt," St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin tells BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

"We were hoping the SPFL would help us out in regards to the game. We were willing to give Peter Urminsky, our 21-year-old third-choice goalkeeper his debut today, but then unfortunately the Track & Trace team decided that he was also ruled out because he had been training with the two other goalkeepers.

"That left us in a really strange situation where we had no goalkeepers for the match today.

"I genuinely felt the SPFL would have shown a bit of compassion and a little bit of understanding regarding the situation but we were told that under no circumstances would the game be postponed."

St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin has been reflecting on "a stressful 24 hours"

"It's been a really frantic 24 hours, very unsettling for everybody, training had to be cancelled yesterday morning. It's been really frustrating and I just can't believe that under these extreme circumstances, we weren't allowed more time.

"Even just to postpone the game for 10 days. I'm pretty sure everybody at Hibs would have been understanding of the situation. Had it been three outfielders it would have been completely different. But we were told yesterday that if we couldn't get a goalkeeper, we would have had to play an outfield player in goal."

    Aberdeen v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Aberdeen are unchanged from their 1-0 win over Hibernian, with on-loan Marley Watkins preferred up front to Curtis Main and Bruce Anderson, who both have to make do with a place on the bench. Ronald Hernandez drops out of the squad altogether.

Kilmarnock understandably don't make too many changes from their 4-0 win over Dundee United.

Manager Alex Dyer makes just the one tweak, Zeno Rossi is the bench with Ross Millen coming back into the starting line-up.

The decision to make Aberdeen v Kilmarnock a test event for the return of fans means a lot of eyes will be on Pittodrie today.

While the action will be unfolding on the pitch, there will be as much attention – if not more - on what is happening off it.

It's more than six months since there were any spectators inside the ground. This afternoon 300, socially-distanced Dons season tickets holders, will be spread around the South Stand.

In terms of the game itself, Aberdeen will be looking to pick up where they left off before the international break.

The hosts have won their last four games, and they will be heartened by their good recent record against Kilmarnock.

As for Killie, they’ve not had the start to the season they would have wanted.

But Alex Dyer will be hoping an impressive 4-0 win over Dundee United last time out can represent a corner turned, and a launch pad for the rest of the campaign.

St Mirren said on Thursday that Alnwick is self-isolating after testing positive, then confirmed that a second goalkeeper also has the illness and that a third is also unavailable after working alongside the first two.

The third goalkeeper has tested negative but is "at potential risk of transmission" so will be excluded as a precaution.

St Mirren have since registered goalkeeper coach Jamie Langfield, 40, who will be on the bench.
