    Timo Werner (19 mins)

Pick that one out! Timo Werner has his first goal in a Chelsea shirt and it's a belter too.

Cesar Azpilicueta robs the ball from Sergio Reguilon, who then dives in to try to win it back. Azpi picks out Werner on the edge of the box, he has two men on him but smashes in a low, right-footed shot into the corner.

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

First shot on target as Callum Hudson-Odoi hits one straight at Hugo Lloris, never really got hold of it. It's almost bizarre how easy this is being made to look by Chelsea. Ben Chilwell has got so much space on the left.

There is something about Chelsea ratting around and giving Tottenham not time on the ball.

If you are to paint a picture then it looks like there are 15 minutes to go, Spurs are winning 1-0 and are hanging on.

    It's still 0-0.

Mason Mount skids a shot wide from a similar position to where he nailed one in the other day. Neither keeper has had to make a save yet.

Sergio Reguilon is rapid alright, he eats up yards and yards of space to make a tackle. I'd give you a little update on Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy but all he's had to do so far is play a five-yard pass.

    Still better than Kepa.

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Jorginho has got his slippers on here. Bossing the game, no Spurs player coming to within 10 yards of him.

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Tanguy Ndombele loses out with a slack touch but Spurs recycle it well out to new man Sergio Reguilon. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said on TV before that he was the best left-back in Spain so that's good enough for me.

Mind you he did relegate my side from League One so...

Yep, it's all Chelsea, Spurs are nowhere near it at the moment. No chances of note though.

If there were fans inside the stadium, I don't think they would be happy.

Chelsea are absolutely dominating the ball.

Spurs are chasing shadows in this game already.

Gareth Bale is in the stands, big coat on, texting away on his phone, he's not even watching. Real change from his Madrid days.

Steven Bergwijn is the nearest thing to a central striker for Spurs, bit of a Spain Euro 2012 tribute act. It's all Chelsea at the moment, Timo Werner busy down the left.

  12. 'Spurs line-up is strong'published at 19:46 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard tells Sky Sports: "Edouard Mendy is making his debut and we have brought him in so he is playing tonight.

"I don't think it matters who I select but individual errors will cost you goals. That cannot be in the game.

"The Spurs line-up is strong and I was not taken by Jose Mourinho when he said they will not compete. They have added in the window and can pick a lot of player who were not involved at the weekend."

Spurs manager José Mourinho was eliminated from just three of his first 28 ties in the League Cup but has since gone out in each of his last two, both with Manchester United in 2017-18 (vs Bristol City in the quarter-final) and 2018-19 (vs Derby County in the third round).

I'm sorry, I don't get. Why is Dele Alli not making the Spurs squad big news? As a Spurs supporter I've endured the pain of watching his 60% performances whilst knowing that there are players putting in 100% effort on the training pitch. I'm pleased to finally have a head coach who has no time for favouritism. The team must come first. Maybe he'll soon understand that with great talent comes a greater responsibility.

That's the most fun I've seen Jose Mourinho have in an interview for ages. He loves the siege mentality.

  18. 'I don't speak about the players who are not here'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 29 September 2020

    Tottenham v Chelsea (19:45 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho: "We can fight, we are going to fight but we don't have the same conditions as others. It's a strange competiton for us, I don't like to get through without playing, but unfortunately for Leyton Orient we didn't play that game.

"We play on Thursday in a very important game for our season, on the sport side and the economic side so today we don't have the same ammunition as them.

"No Dele Alli - but there's no Son, no Lo Celso. I am not going to speak about the players who are not here. Are you going to ask Frank why he has dropped Thiago Silva?

"Who is going to play up front? Nobody. We don't have anybody."

Angus Robb: I'm sure that the club, Jose & Dele have agreed that whilst he looks for other options this term he's not ready to play. His agent & he will be seeking offers. It's hard as Levy will want at least £60m with a contract to 2024 in place
