    FT: Brentford 1-0 Newcastle

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking to 5 Live Sport: "Happy moment for the club that we have managed to get to the semi-final.

"A club the size of Brentford, we are constantly trying to build and develop and achieve bigger things and this is a big step - especially the way we have done it, beating four Premier League sides, it just shows it was definitely well deserved and today.

"We couldn't argue that win, so very pleased with that.

"We have a strong squad, a good squad and people are very to step in and help the team and that makes me calm and the boys deserve a lot of praise for that."

On goalscorer Josh Dasilva: "It was a pleasure to watch him, I must say. Absolutely fantastic, especially on the ball and the way he controlled the game but on the flip side, still worked so hard defensively.

"He's a shooting star and we are very pleased for him. I'm sure he'll play in the Premier League - hopefully with Brentford."

One shot on target for Arsenal in the first half, one goal. Though they've looked dangerous since drawing level.

Manchester City have had three on target, and Pep is also winning the possession stakes against Pep 2.0.

Arsenal have had just 34% of the ball in the opening 45 minutes, but that's not the stat that matters.

Arsenal have stayed in the game. After going a goal down after only a few minutes, you were fearing the worst for them.

But they gradually got into the game - after not throwing a punch for half an hour - and now it's all to play for.

This hasn't been the Manchester City of a few years ago where they would go out and regularly score five or six goals, they have struggled for goals this season, so for all their good play, they didn't put the game away.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted Arsenal have stayed in the game.

Sherwin Le Monde: How is that not a red card for that tackle on Martinelli? Keeper gets a bit of the ball but he's so out of control. It's the definition of reckless, he ends it sliding across the turf on his back both legs in the air like a turtle, Obviously out of control.

    And that's the break.

It looked all too easy for Manchester City when they took the lead through Gabriel Jesus after two minutes, but Alexandre Lacazette's goal pulled the hosts level.

I think Arsenal will be desperately keen to keep Martinelli on the pitch because that ball over the top is the way to beat the Manchester City defence with them holding a high line. It just needs a runner to time it well and get in behind - and that's what Martinelli can do.

Martinelli is back on his feet, hobbling a little down the touchline but looks like he wants to come back on.

Aviation Fan: Any other player on the pitch goes in with a studs up challenge that high and they would be sent off. Goalkeepers are inexplicably exempt from so many rules of the game.

Gabriel Martinelli looks to be in a lot of pain but Zack Steffen had to get there - and he did. It was a well-timed tackle.

Zack Steffen comes flying out of his area to just pinch the ball away from Gabriel Martinell - the Arsenal forward was in if the goalkeeper mistimed that.

The American caught the 19-year-old on the way through and Martinelli is down holding his ankle. He's having treatment and looks in pain. He's made a great start tonight too.

So much better from Arsenal. Just the pressing off the ball, reading where the next pass is going to be.

It's just that intensity. Rather that drifting back into their own half and being passive, Arsenal are doing something about it when they haven't got the ball - and it's as king Manchester City questions.

Manchester City have gone from all-controlling to a little bit vulnerable.

Another huge chance for Gabriel Jesus, but what a save from Alex Runarsson.

He's had a bit of a nervy start but the Icelandic goalkeeper does superbly well to thwart Jesus after the ball broke to the Brazilian 10 yards out. Made himself big.

Dani Ceballos comes alive to pinch it in midfield and Arsenal work it left for Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The wing-back looks to take on Joao Cancelo but the ball comes back off his shins and out for a Manchester City goalkick.

Martin Ward: it's all about Arteta losing his job but when do the players take responsibility.

How about everyone just lay off Arteta! This has been coming for years. Years of selling our best players to our rivals and complete mismanagement of the recruiting process. We are where we are, live with it. Let's get behind the manager.

It's a transformation by Arsenal. Energy, aggressiveness on the ball AND off the ball. They are in the Manchester City half and they're pressing and they're playing and they are taking chances off the ball.

For half and hour where they did so little, they're now creating things they wouldn't have dreamed of 20 minutes ago.
