Krasnodar have equalised against Sevilla so that means Chelsea have to win this game to progress tonight. A little bit more pressure on them.

A nice move by Chelsea as Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mateo Kovacic exchange passes on the right before Hudson-Odoi plays a great ball through the defence for Timo Werner. He's too far from goal to have a shot so instead drives the ball into the middle for Tammy Abraham but Rennes clear.

Once again, Rennes have settled well after a slow start and Thiago Silva does well to get in the way of a strong Hamari Traore shot.

Rennes have lost five of their last six games but really don't look like a side in such poor form at the moment.

Tammy Abraham holds the ball up well and then wins a free kick for Chelsea, who have starte this half much like they did the first.

Manchester United make two changes from the narrow win over West Brom at the weekend.

Edinson Cavani makes his first start for the club and fellow summer signing Donny van de Beek is in the line-up too.

Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata drop out.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said goalkeeper Dean Henderson would get chances before Christmas even if he didn't start tonight's game.

He doesn't.

Timo Werner nods into the back of the net from Cesar Azpilicueta's cross but the whistle goes with the linesman's flag up. Werner was just offside.

Positive start to the second half by Chelsea, though.

Chelsea are 45 minutes away from largely being able to put their feet up for their remaining group games.

Rafael spent seven years at United and made 170 first-team apparances.

There were plenty at the club who felt it was a mistake when Louis van Gaal sold the Brazilian to Lyon in 2015.

Straight after this one there's a whole bunch of Champions League games but we will have our main focus on Manchester United's game against Istanbul Basaksehir (20:00 GMT)

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last 47 games in all competitions when ahead at the break.

When Chelsea have got the ball and got it down and shown the confidence they've done well. Have to give credit to Rennes though - they started slowly and conceded too many chances but when they finally got an impression on the game and took it to Chelsea they've impressed and the last 15 minutes was theirs.

Chelsea ahead but late pressure from Rennes suggests they are by no means out of it.

This is a good opportunity for Rennes on the stroke of half time as Serhou Guirassy is fouled just outside the box. Benjamin Bourigeaud steps up and his free-kick deflects behind off the Chelsea wall.

Edouard Mendy takes his time with a goal kick. Chelsea will be glad of the half time whistle as they've been under a bit of pressure lately.

Better pressing from Rennes. Not just one player it's three, four or five and when they get it right in a group down that Chelsea right hand side they can press the players and win it back. When they sit off it's far too easy for Chelsea.

Oooh that's poor from Ben Chilwell as a careless backpass is pounced on by Serhou Guirassy and he breaks towards goal before attempting to square to a team-mate but Thiago Silva gets back to intercept and spare Chilwell's blushes.

Moments later, Edouard Mendy denies Damien Da Silva's header from a corner.

Chelsea are a bit all over the place at the moment.

Serhou Guirassy holds off Kurt Zouma and then fires off a shot on the turn but it's a bit of a scuff and in the end quite an easy save for Edourd Mendy.
