    Rennes 0-1 Chelsea

Since the start of last season, Mason Mount has registered eight assists for Chelsea in all competitions, a joint-high among players still with the club (also eight or Azpilicueta and Abraham).

    Rennes 0-1 Chelsea

Eduardo Camavinga tries his luck from distance but he's leaning back a bit too much and the ball comfortably clears the crossbar.

    Rennes 0-1 Chelsea

On the counter, Rennes look good. They zip the ball forward at pace with quick, accurate passing. Something for Chelsea to be mindful of with just the one goal in it.

That was a sharp chance. It just hit Kurt Zouma and came back to James Lea Siliki who had no control over that whatsoever.

    Rennes 0-1 Chelsea

Good couple of chances for Rennes as Kurt Zouma blocks a fierce first-time effort from Benjamin Bourigeaud, the rebound falls to James Lea Siliki but he lashes over.

That was an incredible save. It was fascinating goalkeeping from Alfred Gomis.

Mason Mount was smiling in disbelief. It was brilliant athleticism.

Brilliant save! Alfred Gomis recovers superbly after committing for a blocked cross to dive back towards goal and palm away Mason Mount's goalbound effort.

Callum Hudson-Odoi has not played a massive part in Chelsea's season so far but he is looking really sharp.

Chelsea are really quick on the press as well. Mateo Kovacic is quick on that and Jorginho has improved as well. They are just not giving Rennes space.

Tammy Abraham screams at himself as he miscontrols the ball, ending a promising attack. Rennes are a little rattled again now after that goal.

    Rennes 0-1 Chelsea

That goal came just at the right time for Chelsea with Rennes having weathered the early storm. They are winning and Sevilla are winning, everything going their way to ensure they progress to the knockouts tonight.

Wonderful football. Wonderful counter-attacking football. When the full-backs push on for Rennes they just leave two at the back. It was such a large amount of space.

It's a great goal from Chelsea. This game could and should be away from Rennes already.

    Callum Hudson-Odoi

    Superb goal!

Mason Mount wins the ball inside his own half and immediately players a wonderfully weighted ball over the defence for Callum Hudson-Odoi, who takes one touch before sliding the ball past the goalkeeper.

Frank Lampard challenged Hudson-Odoi to make the most of his chance in the side tonight and he has certainly done that.

It's not been Timo Werner's greatest 15 minutes. He let one roll off the pitch, missed an open goal and passed one off the pitch from three yards.

You can see when Rennes get the ball Steven Nzonzi drops into that quarterback position and tries to find the full-backs who have pushed forward.

But what that does do is leave space for Werner and Callum Hudson-Odoi when Chelsea win it back.

    Rennes 0-0 Chelsea

Mason Mount does well to bring under control a strong pass down the flank. He finds Mateo Kovacic on the edge of the area but the midfielder is crowded out and Rennes take possession.

    Rennes 0-0 Chelsea

Rennes are really getting into the game now. There might have been a tactical tweak as they look much more comfortable and Steven Nzonzi wins their first corner of the game.

There's a bit of a panic inside the Chelsea box as the ball comes in but in the end James Lea Siliki can't get his shot away and Edouard Mendy gathers.

If Timo Werner had put his boots on the right feet at Newcastle it would have been miles more comfortable.

He has not got his shooting boots on yet tonight. They should be in front.

Good news for Chelsea from elsewhere as Sevilla are already ahead against Krasnodar. That means Chelsea are through with a draw if things stay the same.

No closer to a goal here yet, although Rennes have managed to get beyond halfway a few times in the last few minutes.

Rennes have got this wrong formation wise.

The players are just occupying space but they are not tight and players of this quality for Chelsea can just pick their passes.
