  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 6 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Ajax

Unlucky! For the second time already Curtis Jones strides onto a lay-off on the edge of the area and hits a rasping drive. Mo Salah tees him up, he laces it goalward but it comes back off the post.

    It's a very open start.

  2. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Ajax

Some fine play from Ajax, Davy Klaasen hits a cracking, swerving switch from right to left and the visitors should make more of that. David Neres rather fluffed his cross.

  3. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Porto 0-0 Manchester City

Raheem Sterling flashes a dangerous cross through the Porto penalty area and Fernandinho just misses out on the header. City all in black this evening.

    Liverpool 0-0 Ajax

Noussair Mazraoui almost heads the ball straight to Diogo Jota which on current form would be a horrific idea. Andre Onana recovers in goal to clear though.

Curtis Jones then smashes in a shot from midfield but it's right at the keeper. Bright start from the hosts!

  7. 'It's a strange one for John Stones'published at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2020

Porto v Manchester City (20:00 GMT)

I was expecting John Stones to start tonight - Eric Garcia is extremely talented but he has stated over the summer that he doesn't necessarily want to be at Man City. It must be a strange one for John Stones - we know that he's been through a lot since he joined City and if anything he's been a bit inconsistent which is why he perhaps hasn't played as much as he would like.

We know Pep Guardiola is loyal to consistency and ball-playing centre-halves so it must be quite difficult and it will be interesting to see what happens for him in the future.

City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport on why Ilkay Gundogan was left out of the XI:

"We play in a few days. A lot of games and we just started - it's the beginning of the season."

On Rodri playing again: "Rodri has played a lot but he has specific qualities. In the last game he played 45 minutes and is more fresh than the other ones."

On Ederson not being rested: "We want to finish first. Ederson is our first choice goalkeeper."

On the possibility of Ferran Torres scoring for the fourth successive Champions League game: "It would be good for Torres. He has to do his job. If he scores good."

    Liverpool v Ajax (20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport about the absence of first-choice keeper Alisson: "It is not Covid. He told us after the last game that he felt his hamstring after 60-70 minutes.

"He had a scan and it's a little one but enough for today and probably for another week. We don't know exactly, 10-14 days.

"Caoimhin Kelleher is a good shot-stopper. My job is to make decisions.

"I expect both teams to play better than when we played one another in the first game. We could not play the way we wanted. It was a tight game and I expect that again."

They've done it again. It is another famous win for Shakhtar Donetsk, Little Brazil, who have now done the double over Real Madrid, the 13-time winners of this competition.

Still games to go, but who saw Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar as top and second in a group also containing Real and Inter Milan?

Four added minutes. It's not going to enough for Real.

Total waste of a free-kick from Toni Kroos, who swings his cross from the left over everyone and wide.
