It's been a good game, good to have the Champions League back. Quality everywhere. Dayot Upamecano, the best thing since sliced bread on the continent, gives the ball away cheaply again and Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to putting Mo Salah in. It's very open back there.

PSG work the ball quickly, Kylian Mbappe is in acres of space and finds the run of Mauro Icardi in the box, but the Argentine's goalbound shot is cleared off the line by the retreating Pedri.

It should be 1-0 to Liverpool - huge opportunity for Mo Salah - outstanding ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Feeds it round the left centre half and Salah goes through one on one. He tries to dink the goalkeeper but I think he should just try and put his foot through it. Opportunity.

Ozan Kabak just popped up on the right wing. Total fussball.

Marcel Sabitzer , who slayed Spurs last year, then lands a swerving shot from 20 yards but it's a routine save for Alisson.

Trent Alexander-Arnold whips a lovely pass down the line and into the run of Mo Salah, he's just onside and ex-Reds keeper Peter Gulacsi is in his face fast as you like. He saves it with the top of his chest and Roberto Firmino eventually fires the loose ball into the side netting.

Big chance for Barca and they should lead.

Youngster Pedri skips past a couple of challenges and slips Antoine Griezmann through on goal, but the Frenchman lacking in confidence scuffs a low shot from the left which Keylor Navas can keep out.

That's what you call a high line - one clearance sends Mo Salah running away over the halfway line and there's no Leipzig player in sight. They scramble back well though and the attack breaks down.

Almost a costly error at the back from the (sort of) hosts as a slip lets Mo Salah get in. He wins a corner which is won by Roberto Firmino but he can't steer a header on target.

Leipzig got to the semi-finals last year of course so nobody should be surprised that they look such a slick outfit. It's been a high-tempo start from both sides.

In the aftermath of that chance two Leipzig players were actually booked. Very early cards for Nordi Mukiele and Amadou Haidara.

I don't think Alisson got a touch on that. A brilliant move.

Liverpool are shifting it really well, it's quick, it's incisive - as soon as they pick up the ball they look forward they look to hit the men early. They look extremely sharp so far which I haven't seen from them for quite a while.

Looks like a back three for Leipzig, Angelino with plenty of licence to bomb on down the left.

Kylian Mbappe is playing against Barcelona for the first time and is almost in in the first minute but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is quickly off to clear, but rather unconvincingly.

Mbappe's form for PSG in the knockout stages is poor, just one goal in nine games.

Time to put that right.
