Barcelona
More from Ronald Koeman, on Lionel Messi: "Leo has seen for quite some time that the team is improving thanks to all the changes we've made.
"Particularly, we have young players of great quality. We've got a great future ahead.
"Leo can't have any doubts about what the future holds for this team."

Barcelona
Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman: "We are out, which is what counts in this sport, but we leave with good sensations.
"We had opportunities to make things very complicated for our rival. We were the superior team in the first half, taking big risks at the back with man-to-man marking.
"Really, we deserved more for that effort. It should at least have been 2-1 to us at half time. If we'd led at the break, the second half would have been a whole different affair."

This win will be a big confidence boost for Liverpool. They will want to take the good points - the pressing, the harrying, the defensive work, the shape that they had - forward. My only concern with the way they played was how easy it was for Leipzig to get out down their left-hand side - that was probably the only real blemish. It looks a little bit weak to me.
Liverpool
More from Klopp: “We created a lot of chances. That’s us at the moment – first half massive chances and couldn’t score. Again, the biggest and best thing the boys did is let nobody see how good Leipzig can be. They are a monster usually, they are so powerful and you saw all the runs in behind, but we defended that really well. Big compliment to the boys.
"We had to switch off that Premier League stuff, to get here and to give it a proper try. The boys really enjoyed themselves tonight, which is important. We were doing the hardest and the dirtiest work because it was a big defending challenge.”
On Fabinho: “I asked him afterwards: ‘You like the position No6 more than the other one and he said ‘Yes!’. He could not have been more clear.”

Every time you turn up at Anfield you start thinking 'is the game that is going to get it off our backs'. I'm not being disrespectful to the sides that have gone to Anfield and got something, Burnley, West Brom, Fulham, and you think that Liverpool should be winning those games. You lose so much confidence from that.
The away form has been a blessing in disguise and very helpful for them because the away form has been atrocious.
Liverpool
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "The two centre halves played an incredible game. The whole last line played an incredible game because that is a tough task. We had to press them. We defended deep together really well which is important. Everybody had a really good game. It was a good performance."
Use it as momentum? "We have to. Last time we played Champions League it was a long trip. We platy next on Monday, that is OK. We have to make ourselves ready. If we play like we did tonight it will not be easy for Wolves.
"It is a massive difference."

Diogo Jota brings a penetration to Liverpool - it allows them to run at defences because Roberto Firmino likes to pick the ball up in deeper positions and that hasn't quite worked for him this season. Jota has the ability to press, and win the ball back straight away when he loses it - his energy levels are quite incredible.
I think we will see the changing of the guard in that front three. I think it probably would have happened if Jota didn't get injured. He has been brought in for that reason but also for rotation to keep them all fit and all in peak condition.

No Messi, no Ronaldo. The winds of change are blowing in the form of Mbappé and Haaland!

Liverpool won't prioritise the Champions League and say they are just going for this, but it perhaps suits their style of play a little bit more. They will definitely want to put the league form right, and correct the position that they are in now. They will still feel that there is a chance to really push for the top four, time might be running out for them, but the belief that they'll get from a couple of victories will help them still believe they can do something, and put pressure on the teams above you. It is a big, big ask though.

Liverpool
Liverpool goalscorer Mo Salah, speaking to BT Sport: "It is a big result for us. We came here after losing a few games in the Premier League. The team is not in the best shape but we want to fight in the Champions League and also fight in the Premier League and see what can happen.
"I would love to score more. I am happy I scored today and the team won, that is the most important thing.
"We have had a few injuries this season, we have been unlucky but the most important thing is we have to keep fighting. We just have to take each game at a time and not look to the big picture because if you look to the big picture there can be too much pressure."
"It has been tough in the Premier League, we don't want it to be tough. It is part of the game. The last couple of years we were winning and flying, this year we have had injuries, it is hard. Hopefully, now we have two or three or four centre backs we can keep winning."

There are huge smiles on the faces of the Liverpool players, it is like a huge weight has been lifted off their shoulders tonight. The embrace between Jurgen Klopp and Nat Phillips was huge too, it was almost like it was a relief to Klopp too.
Liverpool have to build on this. The performance in the first leg was big, going into the Merseyside derby, but then they were flat after it so you'd expect the senior players and staff to be saying this is the springboard now, this is what we've been waiting for.
PSG 1-1 Barcelona (5-2 on agg)
It's the first time since 2006-07 that Barcelona have failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And could it be the last time we see Lionel Messi in the competition as a Barcelona player?

I thought Nat Phillips was outstanding - he won anything that game into the box in the air, and low down I thought he challenged for every single ball. He didn't give the forwards a moments peace. But quite often it didn't get through to there and that was because of the positional sense of Fabinho. He was superb tonight. He just goes around, quietly doing his job, but he always wants the ball in tight areas and he can turn out of it and he cuts right through the opposition midfield with a pass and that allows Liverpool to be breaking at the back four. That is what he does so well, and what they've missed.

PSG 1-1 Barcelona (5-2 on agg)
It's all ifs and buts in the end for Barcelona, who were by far the better side on the night.
But it's a big result in Europe for PSG after their disasters of recent years.
You wouldn't bet against Mauricio Pochettino's side being in the final once again this season...

Jurgen Klopp will be delighted with the effect that his front three had on the game. The big plus tonight is the position of Fabinho - it was a big, big performance from him. He brought a nice balance to the Liverpool team.

It has been a very professional performance from Liverpool - the only thing you'd say is they could have perhaps put the game to bed in the first half.
